..Where are Chameleon Deathclaws?

Too scared to go out because mosquitoes are more dangerous than them even with their cloaking ability

I've only seen two of them in 600+ hours, so they're pretty rare. There are some high level enemies that you rarely encounter, like the variants on the behemoth. There are Epic, Ancient, and Glowing Behemoths, but you almost never see them.

I just assumed it was someone making a joke in the load screens, I've never actually seen one yet even at high levels so I assumed you know, they were just a myth.

Deathclaws are Jackson Chameleons who have undergone heavy genetic splicing to create a biological searh and destroy weapon.

In lore this heavy mutation caused them to lose the ability to change colors.

Not sure if Bethesda is changing this or not. Ive never encountered any in game and so cant say anything about them.

I'm pretty sure the Epic Behemoth is the highest level and rarest one. I've only seen one of them. I've seen Ancient and Glowing Behemoths a few times each.

It could be the case... since perfectly cloaked stealth entity is not visible nor VATS detectable... lol

I must admit that i did wonder what was the point of them.

I used to see them quite often but not sure if i have seen them lately.

They would sort of change colour a bit but never blended in to the scenery.

Here's a picture of one.

The type that I see most of is the Mythic variety.

So Behemoth is a mutated super mutant, while super mutants are mutated humans as part of Institute's research.

So wtf is an Ancient Behemoth??? lol

haven't seen them in 1.4 but rarely travel to G Sea since update. So I might have walked past and didn't notice!

After 1.4.. I noticed increased number of Savage Deathclaw being spawned at glowing sea.

I haven`t seen Chameleon Deathclaw there for over 2 months now...

It can all be just coincidence though.

I love how Savage Deathclaw actually act so savage when I use him as temporary companion. lol

They deal significant damage to all enemies and do act extremely aggressive.. 100x more useful than any other melee companions.

I didn't even now that they existed. Played 4 characters fully (levels range from 50-65 at end game state). Never seen one thank god because I think I would poop my pants.

They were originally supposed to appear at level 81 but may have appeared sooner for some players.

They don't go invisible, they just change colour a bit.

I'm glad they don't go invisible and leap out at you because that might indeed cause the pooper valve to burst.

I've only seen one, it was inside the Witch Museum. I saw it before it saw me, so I took it down without a scratch. I was at level 64, armed with a 2 shot Gauss Rifle.

I actually saw three of them in one of those defend checkpoint mini events but didn't realise it until they were long dead. One was green, one was red and another one was yellow.

Chameleon death claws are level 81, Mythic are level 91, so only deathclaws spawned in that narrow level range will spawn as chameleons, otherwise they will be a different type,

Chameleon death claws have significantly above average melee damage (near mythic), but below average health (slightly above albino) as a deathclaw, they shift between blue, green, red, and brown constantly, but do not blend in per say.

More importantly. Where are the baby Deathclaws? F3 and FNV had baby Deathclaws and they were soooo damn adorable. Despite you know teeth and claws that could rip you to shreds.

My main is 115 and I have only seen a couple of these.

As a stealth/sniper I always walk around stealth. I have a piece of armor that adds 10% to my movement speed and I never know when something is around. Sadly they usually don't even see me coming and can often be seen not camouflaged. If you catch them like this, you will kill them and not even realize they were able to stealth until you are looting them and see their name.

I think only once one of the camouflaged ones attacked me while using stealth. The rest of the time I catch them off guard, visible and just doing living their life in the wastelands.

Wow Chameleon Deathclaws are leveled at 81?

Mythic Deathclaws are always scaled to player`s level.

I believe Albino is 70~, Savage 60~, Matriarch 50~ levelish and glowing & alpha male are even lower.

If Chameleon Deathclaws are second strongest after Mythic variant, it actually gives some explanations to why they are so rare.

Oh, just for update,

I found a Chameleon Deathclaw last weekend at the Glowing Sea.. the first time since January.

It was leveled to be 81, 10 levels higher than Albino Deathclaw... that must be why it`s extremely rare.

Good to know it`s still out there thriving !

**Mythic Deathclaw replaces Chameleon Deathclaw for high level players.

Chameleon deathclaws will only spawn among random non-mythic deathclaw.. and will be extremely rare spawn.

I found my first two ever within a few minutes of each other yesterday in the Glowing Sea. I'm like level 110.
