Where are my golf courses?

The Greater Boston area has some terrific golf courses, but you'd never know it from playing Fallout 4.

I'd like to think I'm a fairly thorough player, so I do a lot of exploring, but even after several hundreds of hours, I'm still finding new things in FO4. Tonight's new thing was the fact that there is a driving range at:

Spoiler
The Slog.

Who knew??? It's one of those two-tiered jobs and it faces the river/lake. Heh trying to hit your ball to the other side would be quite a challenge.

Anyway, this led me to ask why there aren't full-fledged golf courses in the game. Sure, they'd be terribly overgrown, but they should still be there. Heck, I'd settle for a par-3 or even one of those crazy mini-golf places. Taking things a step further, we could use golf clubs as weapons and make a golf-ball grenades like the baseball grenades. At the very least, we could scrap them (noooooo!) into crafting materials.

Why oh why'd they leave out the golf???

When Bethesda went to boston when the leaks started to happen, I think they did the tour though Boston and that was about it. The museum of science was a huge let down a tiny building.... So much was left out, even historic sites not on the tours.

By the time 2077 rolls around, everyone has finally realized that golf is not a sport and decided to move on to other, much more civilized activities, such as pool, bowling, and thermonuclear ping pong. :P

Maybe the great war is really China doing us a favor trying to nuke golf of the Earth. Seriously golf is so boring. It's like watching radscorpions [censored].

Seconded. Golf is actually pretty fun/challenging. I'm not saying it's hockey or anything it is fun.

What is a golf course?

A giant, open field filled with holes.

What is the Wasteland?

The reason we don't see Golf Courses is because... well, they blend into the landscape. I pointed this out before in a New Vegas thread- the only real indicator of a golf course would be the flags, which after 200 years of scavving, would most likely have been long since repurposed as building materials for tents or something.

Golf helps with my Insomnia. It'd be a shame if someone took it away from me! D:

When I found the driving range I thought "Cool, golf balls and golf clubs". Not to be.

The first obvious thing is; Fallout 4 isnt a word-for-word ingame translation of the real boston.

Secondly; fallouts universe diverts from our timeline sometime after world war 2. Its an entirely different reality from ours. Who's to say people just didnt play golf? This is a universe with "rocketscience for babies" books

Third; nuclear devastation? Im not really a golf fan but the pitches are pretty basic.. Just grass, a flag, a hole.. Some sand. Nuclear blasts carry force; be in objects are flung far distances, broken or incineration, wouldnt be hard to mess up an empty field.

Fourth; itd be a developer nightmare. Spending months texturing charred/mutated grass only to then fill half the map with just that, given the size of golf pitches
