Where are the cute girls with big guns?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:28 pm

I couldn't imagine a girl in brink's art style looking cute. Brink's universe is full of homely people. The rest of the world is actually fine, the Ark is just where they exile the really ugly people, like a leper colony.

Where's all the girls with big guns?

In the upcoming movie, svcker Punch.

You, sir, win an internet. I completely forgot to add this to the discussion.

Sadly, I think it's one of the better bad examples. Snyder will try to achieve what he did before with 300 and Watchmen, but I guess he will end up with something like Tim Burton's Alice, which I consider a complete let down.

I suppose I'm the only one who thinks Olivier-style girls wouldn't be "cute" anyways.

Is this thread still going? Haven't we disscused this like 10 BILLION times before? We know why they cant add female characters, its not the end of the world, LOTS of games don't have female characters in them, yes brink is supposed to be revolutionary and have very deep customization, why not girls? because doing a crappy job on making female characters and lessing the customization options for males is not what SD wants to do, ITS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL! If they do make a expansion (i doubt it, they will probably just make add-ons) or a sequel, they will probably add females, its not certain because they could have the same problem as they do now when the time comes, but if they can, they will.

I support any people, male or female, who wants to protest against this game and such for not having females but still, its not like hundreds of other games haven't added or cut out woman, and SD are the first developers that ive seen that actually acknowlege that there fans are disapointed about this.

Anywho can we be done with these "WHY NO FEMALES1!?!?!!1111111one11111" topics?

Putting female models into an FPS just seems so... pointless. It'd be so underused it wouldn't even be worth the time it took to craft the basic models out, never mind creating customizations for it and hiring female voice actors. There are female models in Halo and the only time I see a female model in game is when the person playing is actually a girl...

And I don't see very many girls playing at all.

Watch what you say, there are plenty of female gamers, and quite a few on these forums, and Brink is supposed to be deep in customization, thats why everyone was disapointed when females were cut, yes its not THAT big of a deal but its still disapointing, i myself would like to see females in the future tho.

Yeah, well ... in a stupid and terrible one, if you ask me.

"Oh look, women are about six. And uhm ... that's basicly it. At least men have something to say and do and represent other than that!" You get my point?

But why would you want to be represented as female six objects? Or faceless puppets?

I've played through Devil May Cry 4 lately and there are two female characters in it: One is a six symbol (Dantes partner/sort of girlfriend) and Kyrie, who Nero is in love with. However, both of them have z-e-r-o charcter development and are only there to either do nothing or make the male characters do something.

The primary reason why the vast majority of game-avatars are males (and I'm adding my part here now) is, that the vast majority of gamers are males.
The secondary reason why there usually are no female characters (and this applies to BRINK) is that they would require extra ressources to be created. And we're not talking about adding 100 polygons for teh boobies.

I award you, my dear sir, with a :ninja:.

I do not want to be treated like some lusty thirteen year old because I am certainly not one. I would rather BRINK have no representation of women than treat women as if they were six objects. I'm not here for that. If that is what SD will have to stoop down to in order to get people to play, then count me out.

The ratio of Male to female gamers means that the average gamer will come across very, very few female gamers playing. Even less who actually care that they're playing as a guy. I really don't see why it's so disappointing. The game can be better without them wasting their time making female models and customizations for it...

I really don't see why people are still complaining about this, especially since SD have a legitimate excuse not to have women in the game.

As a kick butt female gamer, I commend you on this awesome game. I think it is a revolution in of itself as far as games are concerned.

Complaint - where are the female character builds????

I understand that games like Call of Duty and the Killzone series do not have factions that include a female character build, but, and my hardcoe gamer boyfriend backs me up on this, not everyone wants to play as a male character. The draw of having an entirely different six for male players, is of course visually oriented, for female players it is an identifier and a welcome invitation to pick up the controller and spend the time playing.

I cannot speak for the male population of gamers, as I am not a male, but I am a female and I'd like to play Brink as a bad arsed female, with a cute butt, (pretty please?)

Again, I think Brink is mind-blowing from all the footage I've seen, and it would be even more mind-blowing to know that female character builds could be incorporated!!

I agree whole-heartedly. Considering they have all of those customization opens I was extremely surprised to note that there is not an option for gender. It only makes sense with the level of depth of customization. It is as in depth as you would find it some of the very best RPGs (Single or MMOs).

I was hoping that SD could break many of the FPS molds present now, including the lack of gender options but sadly not at this time.

Perhaps we will have DLC that will incoroporate gender options.

I believe I said they have NPC female characters in Brink in an earlier post. So yes there are female characters, but not playable ones.

And TreISGod when I play Halo I see guys with female chars all the time, because they have slim bodies or they are pervy old men.

I heard a really lame excuse that some players used females so they could tell when the 98% of the rest of the gamer populace who plays male characters sprints or evades towards them, they'll be able to differentiate the sounds of their character versus the attacker. Which is a load, because I can tell the difference between my character sprinting and another guy sprinting next to or behind me. The audio cues are subtle, yes, but they exist for those sharp enough to notice. I am reminded of this every time my brother (poor little nub) comes over and plays; I see all these small, quick signals that he is about to get his ass handed to him on a silver platter and he never sees it coming. :(

I despise the supremely and willfuly ignorant that way.

The only reason I toyed with a female model was to hear her campaign dialogue lines (in some cases it is AWESOME, especially "I aim to please" at the end of ONI Sword Base), but I'm quite alright with my male model.

Still, having a distinctly different physique for female characters was a nice touch by Bungie for their final Halo game. It would be great to see a Brink 2 do the same.

I still don't understand when people say heavy female characters, other people think fat or big boned. When I say heavy female character, I think female char that has the same body type as the heavy (Which is big and has muscle). So I don't mean fat when I say heavy fem.

Caps lock won't get you very far on these forums, nor will dissuading others from talking about a certain subject. People will anologize to Halo or COD whether you like it or not.

And I tied my final post back in to Brink anyway after our brief Halo tangent.

Besides, it was rather relevant once you consider that despite the differences in build and appearance, male and female models have the same hitboxes. This is important: if a female had a smaller hitbox, everyone would be playing a female becuase they'd be harder to hit. In Brink, this wouldn't be an issue so much because hitbox size and health would be related to build, not gender. So now 8 out of 10 potential Brink players wants to be a Light character. Coincidence? I think not.
