So where are the requirments?

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 3:30 am

No, he said they would be released this week. In fact his words (last week) were "Congratulations. PC Specs will be released next week." That's a heck of a lot different from "I'm hoping they'll be released."

I see from Dragonborn1's post below that that has changed. Once again big kudos to Bethesda's PR director. Way to get your facts straight before making announcements.

I don't use twitter so I was just going by what I'd seen people say on the forums.

I do wish the specs were released already, not because I'm planning anything, I'm just curious, especially about disk space needed.

I don't believe Bethesda ever said they'd be released in the first two weeks. But I believe Pete said on his twitter feed he was hoping to release them this week.

I read on a thread yesterday that GStaff responded to that the requirements would be out soon.

I think this is the link to the thread........ http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1243044-help-me-out/page__p__18866678__fromsearch__1#entry18866678

Forgive my ignorance fellow PC gamers but I am surprised that so many of you are so concerned with the system requirements...I mean PS3 and Xbox 360 run it so system requirements are not going to be very steep, especially compared to more recent games. Even considering bare minimum enhancements in graphics such as 1920x1080 resolution, higher res textures, and antialiasing, the technology to run this game smoothly has been out for years. Are there really that many people on here with gaming rigs that old?

I just think that a lot of people are getting worked up about the requirements situation for nothing...that or perhaps some people need to clean up and optimize their PC a bit if they are having issues. Take 2 PCs that have identical components, keep one well maintained and optimize it (defrag, updates, junk file deletion, get rid of automatic and useless startup programs, edit services.msc, etc) and don't do anything to the other...the first PC will be a lot faster and more stable. That is the reality of PC gaming that a lot of people overlook, some would be surprised at how well their rig runs if they just optimize it and maintain it a bit.

It's not just about the minimum PC requirements, but also about the others infos. People with powerfull PC wants to know if the game in High and Maximum quality will make real use of the high end hardware on PC ;)

Update today from Pete on twitter, "We are still working on it and doing testing. Can't give you the day. It'll be as soon as we can give solid info."

Until I had a windfall, and decided to use it to build a gaming PC, I was worried about the system requirements because I was planning/hoping to run Skyrim on the same computer I've run Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout:NV on... the old & weak iMac listed in my sig. Very outdated GPU at this point. It'd been holding on pretty well for the past few years, but games this year were starting to require minimum 512mb VRAM more commonly. Heck, I wasn't even able to try the demos of Magicka and Bastion.

You PC players need to chill on the threads. You guys make up 1/5 of every thread it seems like asking the same junk over and over.

Knwoing what kind of hardware needed to play the game and what is needed to max the game is kinda important to us.. of course 360/PS3 only had to really worry about such once this year and that's with BF3 and gettin 24 player maps with maps 1/3 less then PC will get.

Yes I understand wanting to know maximum quality info. I have this bad habit of feeling like I need to upgrade if I can't run everything at absolute full settings. However I have made my peace with the lack of information concerning what will be available for PCs in Skyrim. I am really quite amazed with how good it looks on Xbox, and although it would be great to see some DX11 effects on PC, I think that is a bit of a reach. I think it will be plenty beautiful with the PCs inherently higher resolution though...and of course mods eventually. If Todd is to be trusted, he said back in a summer interview that the PC will obviously look "even way better," and that they are using the Xbox just to establish a baseline so that when the PC version is seen, it will be a step up for the PC players rather than a step down for the console players. Makes sense actually.

Friday and still no system reqs. It would be nice to actually have time to make sure we have a system that can handle the game on the day the game comes out. Tic, tic, tic...
