I don't think there are any pitch black, but there are certainly new dungeons added which are darker compared to dungeons in vanilla skyrim

Turn the game brightness down some. Pretty obvious if you aren't seeing dark caves in Dawnguard that you have the brightness up too high. There were a number of caves where I couldn't see much at all and had to rely on a torch. And no I don't have my brightness down so far that it's dark outside in the day light. Outside looks normal. The new caves are definitely darker than any of the ones in the vanilla game.

There's a couple of places where it's in your best interest to carry a light....it's as dark as the inside of a dog's guts.

Most TVs are too bright out the box. In fact, a properly adjusted TV can use almost half the electricity in some cases because the stock brightness is so high.

This goes for PC monitors too. Usually you have to drop the brightness to 50% or less on a TV in a typical house. Of course if your room is brighter, it would need more.

Use one of these images, if you can get your TV to display it (try your Laptop or Tablet or Smart Phone)

There are calibration kits available, just fine one that has color cards so you can see what Red should really look like. It is amazing how good a properly calibrated HDTV or monitor can look with video content and games.

There is some very dark new dungeons in Dawngaurd I did need my trusty light spell those for more than the extra light I needed it to actually see. Your brightness needs to be adjusted if you want darker dungeons.

I hated it, I felt like I was missing everything and casting Magelight every 30 seconds. I actually like being able to see everything.

I don't understand this love of pitch black dungeons. Make 'em dark and eerie yes, but not so dark that you miss anything not directly in your path. Its all very well using light spells and torches in Falmer dens but they're pretty useless if your trying to stay hidden from Draugr or humans!

From RP perspective i love pitch dark caves and dungeons
the vanilla caves , dungeons and nights are way too bright

?very PC user probably know one or 2 mods that create darker caves and dungons witjhout darkening the interior of houses

I use the realistic lightning mod for it , it creates natural dark caverns , dungons and realistic dark nights
makes the immersion even so much better

Note do not go out at night without any light source during fog or bad weather you will only run into a three or run off a cliff ; atleast i did a few times

Sounds like the OP mistook the gamejame video as actual DG content. I have never read anything anywhere that said we were actually getting pitch-black dungeons.

Next people are going to complain there's no werebears or dragonriding. Sure, they'd be awesome, but nobody said we were getting them.

Darkfall cave is pretty dark. For the first time my sneaky character had to put away the trusty bow and stealth to use a torch so I wouldn't have to grope my way through the tunnel the whole time. I honestly have no idea how I made it through that place on my first try to be honest, just walking through, no idea which tunnel to take and no indication if I was even going in the right direction. Fun times no sarcasm.

I was having a Hell of a time in some caves, specifically that one of those in the Vale, Sharpslope I believe. I was trying to be sneaky and crouched right into a Skulker and Warmongler. I didn't make it out alive from that encounter

exactly. I too had several new dungeons that needed a torch to help me see but thats because my tv settings are properly adjusted to where night feels right. i love how people complain about skyrim being too bright yet don't tweak their tv/monitor settings...you can even adjust brightness in the games settings, just turn it down until you need a torch :P

There are several areas of
Spoiler
Darkfall Cave
where you absolutely need some sort of light to find your way at all.

Darkfall Cave was the first dungeon where I had a hard time seeing around me, so for me that's one of those dark caves from the gamejam.

This is where being a vampire or a khajiit is useful, night eye FTW I finally had a use for it thanks to dawnguard.
