Where are you from and what is your background?

So my brother and I were talking about The Elder Scrolls the other day. He commented that he is always surprised to find out who played TES games. He said that the series seems to not stick to the 'geek culturel' stereotypes with a wide variety of pepole spending a lot of time in Tamriel.

So I'm just curious if that is true. Where are you from and what is your background?

I'm a writer that currently lives in Western New York. (I have to say that because when I say New York, most people think "New York City.") However, I grew up in Arizona and spent the majority of my life there. One interesting thing about the place I live now is that I can visit Mark Twain's gravesite whenever I want. Truth - I have pictures to prove it. It's about four blocks away from my house. I'm an avid reader. I read and write mostly scifi and fantasy.

My brother grew up in Arizona and lives in Western New York as well. He is married and has a family of four. He tends to be a bit more blue collar than I, spending time fixing machines and driving big rigs. I wouldn't call him a gamer but he does get svcked in to TES series. He actually mentioned that TESO needed to be a bit more like the single player games after watching the beta last weekend.

What about you? I'm curious to see what kind of people are going to be playing TESO.

Excellent post, although some people on here might shy away from showing the personal side to an online avatar.

I'm married, father of three, I label a builder as my profession, and, as my info states, I live in Colorado. I've always considered myself blue collar...borderline redneck in a lot of ways. I flyfish, I bowhunt, I have a jacked up 1976 Ford Highboy, and my house is surrounded by dirt roads and potato fields. I also am an avid reader - both fiction and non-fiction - a documentary buff, a Jeopardy watcher, and a daily NPR listener.

But, I guess, what brings me to these forums and makes me reply to your post, I am also an avid Elder Scrolls fan. I've been into all the titles in the series, but Skyrim was my favorite. I've been fascinated by epic fantasy ever since the first time I watched Conan the Barbarian when I was probably 5. Started reading R.A. Salvatore and Ed Greenwood at 10. Game over since then.

I encourage others to answer the OP's question.

From the Great White North... Canada

Married, no offspring; that I have been told about.

Carpenter / Scaffolder in the Union. Work on the ground, above the ground and in way down deep in the ground.

Have only played Skyrim in TES scheme of things, but have always played some sort of RPG games. Right from the time of dice in D&D.

Just an average guy .

I like pi?a coladas and getting caught in the rain.

Seriously though, I am a small-town pseudo-journalist. I will be returning to school soon to pursue another career. I am thinking about something in computers or electrician. I am a home-owner, but the home is inherited. I have a daughter on the way, who should arrive in the next few days. I play video-games, but I have been slowly growing out of it.

My other hobbies include writing, reading, and drawing.

I have never been a fan of roleplaying.

I have served in the Marine Corps, and I am Schizophrenic.

I am from Deep East Texas.

That's all folks.

I am a 100% disabled Vet who has plenty of time to play ESO in the near future. Prior to military service I was a professional sports photographer.

I have close to 900 hours playing Skyrim (my first TES game) on both the PS3 and PC. I look forward to making new friends in game.

And to The Sentinel of Mournhold, I love your avatar Dude.

By day I am an automotive tooling engineer working for a mid size company specializing mainly in prototype and custom parts for GM. Currently live in Michigan, though I have spent six years traveling over seas (USN). Then went ahead and wasted 4 years in college, which I still regret to this day (Sally May is the devil by the way, if anyone should ever asks you). Am happily divorced, and will gouge my own eye out with a spoon before ever considering marriage again. I enjoy fishing (not on ice though), hunting, driving at excessively high speeds, music, and silence.

And having re-read what I've written its beginning to feel less like teso and more like pof in this thread.

Once you make a habit of it you can learn to really enjoy it. If it wasn't fun for me, I wouldn't do it.

You better beleive I have used that statement before, haha.

I may give it a whirl one day, but currently I don't see the point, as I am not too bad out of shape, my lady is happy with me, and I'm not too concerned about my health (other than mentally at times).

I'm honestly surprised...this thread seems 50/50 white to blue collar with some vets thrown in for blue measure. Either the CPA's and network techs are avoiding this thread due to the sawdust on the floor...or TESO is at least halfway about beer drinking, nail pounding, tire squealing good ol' boys. Next thing you know we'll be hollering at ZOS to come up with 30 different animations for deer, increasing in size, with a way to hang the mount on the wall of our player's house.

Come on, Fred, market anolyst from Baltimore, what's your story?

...It would be cool to be able to put stuffed deer in your house in TESO.... Just Sayin'.

And a full on hunting Minigame? That would be awesome. I mean they have fishing...right?

I can just imagine TESO version of the last thing someone says "Here, hold my ale. I want to see what this does."
