Where are you now? #7

Niamh and Vilja are heading off North East into the country up beyond Cheydinhal.
Having skirted around the north of the Imperial City, taking in an eventful reunion with Fort Empire, amongst other things, they find themselves now in the Roxey.
Here they will stat until tomorrow, or until Niamh becomes completely fed up with fending off assorted barbarians, mercenaries, and bored soldiers...

My decrepit avatar, Vilja, and donkey-Groucho stand just inside Chorrol, about to exit its south gate. They had business there you see. First and foremost it was the terminus of a road patrol assignment. Secondly, they had mercantile supplies to deliver. Last but not least, Groucho was loaded with spoils with which to restock their Sales Shoppe, loot which when sold will net just over 100k before taxes.

Since Jerric is obsessed with closing Oblivion Gates and can’t seem to walk three feet without finding another one, I made a “before” version of him to play in a Gate-free Cyrodiil. I can’t believe how long it took for me to think of this! Cyrodiil looks brand new again.

Right now Kjellingson is enjoying an ale on the rocks above Chestnut Handy Stables before he heads across the bridge to his camp at Fort Nikel. The sunset makes Lake Rumare look all orange and pink. The stablehands are chatting about Nordic and Orcish mercenaries moving into Morrowind. And the smell of some savory stew is making his stomach growl. He wonders if they will give him some. He’s a little tired of roasted rat.

Rodrigo is in the process of creating a AOE paralyze frost spell. However, it's not working right, as evidenced by spell experiment #5 on all the apprentices out there. Don't worry! He uses the time-turner located next to the spell altar, so that no one stays dead for long.

This is why my latest character, Kira, simply ignores the main quest. I much prefer Cyrodiil without Oblivion gates all over it. I RP that she is, indeed, grateful to the Emperor for believing in her and allowing her to escape from prison, but I also RP that she's taking a "wait and see" approach to his last request. If the prophecy starts to come true, then she plans to run to Jauffre and fulfill the Emperor's request. Of course, as players, we know that that will not happen, and that's what I prefer: a long, interesting play-through that is unmarred by Oblivion gates. However, as a character, Kira thinks of the strangely weightless and unwearable amulet as something beyond her, something she will only deal with if she has no other choice. She's much a more an "in the moment" person, and her goals are much less global in scope. There are people to help, places to explore, skills to learn, people to meet.

Kira is currently on the road, heading west towards Skingrad. She's been told that an alchemist there, Sinderion, can tell her more about the strange humming nirnroots she's been finding.

Angel is currently inside an Oblivion gate. She has some rather nasty new spells and an enchanted bow. She is hunting a certain Dremora Archer. If he is not here she will probably leave again without closing the gate. She is determined to kill him very slowly and painfully. As they say; revenge is a dish best served cold.

My decrepit avatar and Vilja stand just inside Cheydinhal about to exit and return to Weye.

This is something of a setback. I couldn't get my most recent save to load this evening. Checking it for bloat in Wrye Bash revealed 18 Null References. Wrye Bash could have removed those. Had there been only one or two Nulls I've have gone that route and hoped for the best. I've done so in the past with no harm done. But eighteen? I didn't wanna risk it so decided to delete every save back to before the Nulls kicked in.

Turns out my first "non-Null" save is dated 1 Feb. Ugh.

One good thing...I give my saves unique descriptive names so can determine what caused the nulls... an error on my part while reinstalling a mod after cleaning its esp with TES4edit. That mistake has been corrected. I should be good to go now with no worries of a recurrence.

Baa has been inactive for a couple of days while another character did some tests on capping skills, but now she and her companion are back and resting in the Captain’s cabin of the pirate ship on the IC waterfront.

Baa has now closed all of the first 25 Oblivion gates, plus the one at Kvatch. She went around to a few of them and made some pics of her companion inspecting the remains. Some are still bellowing flames and others are serene ruins. She may think about advancing the main quest just to get the others to spawn… maybe. She has a chest at the Skingrad house with a dozen Sigil Stones in it, so she really doesn’t need any more for now… but who knows. What can you do with two more Detect Life 180’ stones when she already carries two items enchanted with that?

Went by Swampy Cave for the first time in 3 or 4 years and found that the only thing that had reset were the chests. All the bodies were still laying there. Strange. Went by another cave and collected a couple dozen souls of various sizes. Turned off the grass for a while and did some very long range bow shots on the wildlife around Lord Drad’s and Shetcombe Farm while picking Milk Thistle for her poison potions.

Lately, we’ve been revisiting some of the long forgotten ‘dungeons’ and finding things missed long ago. I guess Baa was at a low level when she first visited them because there are a lot of Hard and Very Hard locks not opened.

Tomorrow Baa will take 50 loaves of bread to Anvil to feed the two dozen or so non-belligerent pirates she has loosed inside the city and waterfront.

Currently on a boat, headed for the Imperial City. what adventure awaits this traveler? I do not even know anything about him quite yet. I gotta get Oblivion back up and running first, then plan this character out. A swordsman who doesn't kill is coming to mind. But then again, a crazy Dunmer lady who likes to steal pants could be on that boat for all I know. That, my friends, is the beauty of this game.

Faregyl, the Estate House. Dawn. My decrepit avatar just crawled out of bed. Vilja remains asleep ... in her own separate bed I'll have you know. They traveled there from Chorrol, with stop enroute at Skingrad to deliver mercantile supplies.

The journey was uneventful. At its end my avatar practiced his armourer skills on the reclusive huntsman who resides in a small encampment south of Faregyl. The poor fellow's gear had disintegrated. He'd even managed to lose his bow. Thankfully, my avatar carries a few spare glass bows (housed in Groucho's packs) for just such situations. He even gave the man a mithril tunic to supplement his leather.

Their plans center on supply deliveries to Border Watch and Leyawiin, and tax gathering at the Imperial Bridge Inn.

Well, Frank the Dunmer monk is in jail in Anvil. She stole 3 or 4 pairs of pants, and pressed her luck trying to take a shiny key from someone. She was smart not to try to fist fight the guards.

Hi all - we are back...

N & V are currently heading for Cheydinhal so that Niamh can report back re "a job", after that it's off to prove the existence of White Wing, in Audumba to the north east of that fair city...
It's more than likely going to take a while though as they are revisiting a few places and finding some new ones on the way.
So far, Forts Chalman and Urasek have benefitted from the girls' cleasning touch.

Pix here: http://s798.photobucket.com/albums/yy265/bassmunkee/ and no, Mirocu, she's not wearing pants. Pants cover her tattoos up!

Ann Thraxx the wayward peasant has just arrived at Chestnut Handy Stables outside the Imperial City. She arrived here by carriage, and it is nighttime...dark and rainy. :cold: She's wearing nothing but one of those horrible Cyrodiilic bras and some sack cloth pants. No shoes, no shirt.

Ann has heard there's a place to stay in "some house on the Waterfront" * so she's walking there now.

* I think there's a free bed in one of the houses on the Waterfront. if there is, no problem. A "friend" told Ann there's a place she can stay. But if there is no free bed, Ann will have no place to stay.

Her family is no more, and she is sad. I'm thinking she was a farmer of some sort, perhaps, and lost her farm. Her husband got killed perhaps, and Ann is right now in serious depression, serious culture shock. She's been to the I.C. before, but never actually lived here. She's used to the wide open plains of the West Weald.

She is poor, but she is also fortunate to have 58 gold in her pocket, along with a soul gem and a few minor things which can be sold. How she got all this stuff? I'm not to know. :nono:

Sorry for the double-post  Ann Thraxx arrived at the Abandoned Shack, which is anything but abandoned! It was about 6am Cyrodiilic time, and Hillod the Outlaw and a dark elf male (forget his name) immediately rose as Ann walked in the door. Oops. Ummm...

"Please, I didn't mean to startle you" she said to the dark elf. "I am Ann Thraxx. I have been sent here and was told I could spend the night. I've lost my farm and my family..."

What was interesting was the dark elf's greeting had something to do with losing his job or being out of work or something. This fit right in, so that Ann and the dark elf had a short conversation about finding work. RIGHT ON TARGET with the roleplay, folks!

The situation in the Abandoned Shack was awkward as the 2 males stood around staring at Ann. This isn't what she expected! :nope: Ann "got to know" Hillod and dark elf, and gave them more than half of her 58 gold (as payment so she can stay in the Shack). But the guys wouldn't leave!

Ann took a short walk outside, deprived of sleep and getting dizzy. She found a couple beggar beds which were open, but ther's no way she's gonna stoop that low.

Finally she made her way back to the Abandoned Shack. It's now 8 am and Hillod + the dark elf are both gone. Finally.

Ann sets off to sleep. when she wakes, she's going to see about looking for work in the Imperial City

Frank had managed to get out of her cell, only to die to the Guard who walked in on her looking for pairs of pants in the dungeons to take. He was a nice guard, he looked at her body and asked, "Are you feeling alright?" Good to see some Dungeon keepers are still nice
