Where to buy Fallout Trilogy / Collection

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 5:58 am

I want to get Fallout 1 and 2, and I was wondering if anyone knew the best places to look and what it might cost.

I know Amazon has it for $16.99, but I don't exactly want to wait for shipping, especially with all of the Holiday slow down.

I know I've seen it at Target once before, but that was quite some time ago and I'm thinking it was like $39.99, does that sound right?

I would check Best Buy, but they tend to sell older games for $60 (I'd be willing to bet Madden 10 is $60 at Best Buy...lol)

Also any tips on what to expect for someone who's only played Fallout 3 and New Vegas would be cool. Words of advice, etc. I know it's different and turn-based but that's basically the extent of my knowledge. Are 1 and 2 just as cool? :P I expect they are.

Oh, and Steam isn't a good option because I'm dial-up.

I believe both gog.com and steam have it.

Any estimate on filesize? I'm dial-up so downloading it isn't a great option. I've downloaded Puzzle Quest over a night or two before...lol. Kind of want a retail box anyway.

And why does the Amazon page say this, LOL:

WARNING:
CHOKING HAZARD -- Children under 8 yrs. can choke or suffocate on uninflated or broken balloons. advlt supervision required. Keep uninflated balloons from children. Discard broken balloons at once.
CHOKING HAZARD -- Small parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
CHOKING HAZARD -- Toy contains a small ball. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Edit #2: and the Amazon reviews mention that the version they're selling isn't the original game so it's missing the manual and doesn't play well. So Amazon is off my list.

I got my Fallout Trilogy Package at a Walmart for $20.00. I wasn't even looking for it that day, but I was pleasently suprised. Worth every penny and then some.

Sweet. I couldn't find it on Wal-Mart's website, but I'll have to check the store tomorrow. Hope it's there, that'd be the easiest scenario for me..lol. Does it run well on current setups? I'm running XP service pack 3. Some of the Amazon reviews say that either they won't run at all, or the colors are messed up, or all kinds of other problems. But I'm assuming you might have to run in compatibility mode or something? Hoping for the best.

I have the version in the pic...

Aside from the cardboard sleeve, DVD-style disc case & the Disc there is nothing at all to choke on.
no ballons, small parts, or balls came with mine (how odd)
the manuals for the three games comes as .PDF files on Disc

mine plays well even on my current win 7 64 bit system,

I got mine from Newegg but it's discontinued now

Okay I picked up Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 in individual boxes at Best Buy today. They both say Fallout is a registered trademark of Bethesda Softworks on the back so I'm assuming they're newer re-releases. $9.99 a piece. I'm pretty excited to give them a run! I'll let you know how it goes later today, wish me luck!

I saw a "Fallout Collection" at Target recently ta had a glossy cover on it. For $9 I bought the "trilogy" a while back from Amazon and it includes the discs inside of paper sleeves in the plastic DVD case stuck where the manual normally goes. They're the European versions without the children and the colors are all messed up on Windows 7 unless you close Explorer.exe and run 'em. Either that or download some third party patches

@Jonahirt, I didn't know they released them individually, strange

So far so good. Took some getting used to but I think I mostly have the hang of things now. Unfortunately I got clobbered by Rad scorpions in the cave outside ~shady springs (think that's what it's called). Everything was fine until I got down to the last 3, and I tried to engage just one but all 3 came after me and I didn't survive the turn.
