You always need to have your trusty Fat man at the ready :)

Evergreen Mills is a MIRV worthy target. Snipe the cage generator from the cliffs to free the Behemoth, and as soon as it begins to engage the Raiders, MIRV the Behemoth then walk down and loot the corpses. It's frikking beautiful, man.

I laughed so hard at the Kennedy/Reagan debate over nuke launchers.
On topic, what others said.

The easiest gun to get early on is the A3-21 Plasma rifle.

* Go to Rivet City (I like swimming there, it gets you irradiated, which makes Moira happy)
* Proceed to the lab in back
* Talk to Zimmer (he will find you)
* Find holotapes in Preston's lab (talk to the doc), the church pulpit, and Sister's quarters.
* If Victoria Watts finds you, you can probably blow her off.
* Find Pinkerton in the broken bow, get his story.
* Find the android and restore his memory.
* You have received the plasma rifle!

I got mine at Level 3.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the alien blaster. I'm not completely sure where it is though, but if you go up to Minefield you will see a power plant or factory near there, go there and head north/northwest, you'll find a crashed alien ship with an aliens body by it, look around there and you should find the alien blaster, there are around 80 alien power cells scattered around it. You'll probably find better directions on youtube though. It's the best energy weapon in the game, and is still awesome even if you have a low energy weapons skill. It'll take out most targets in just a couple of hits and has a chance to instantly disintegrate the target.
Oh and if you have the Mothership Zeta add-on you'll get abducted before you can pick up the blaster and get probed by some aliens.
BTW if you decide to take a pop at the Mothership Zeta quest, bring A LOT of stimpacks! I went on that quest with 150 stimpacks and came back with around 40.

Guess I will add my fav weapon from Point Lookout... the double barreled shotgun. Up close and personal, I can take off an Enclave soldier's head out of VATS pretty easily. svcks at about 20 yards and beyond. I actually face Reavers with it.
