Where to find health potions in bulk?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:50 am

I am constantly running out. I find that most potion shops do not stock them or stock only the weakest potions in very limited quantities and don't restock. I know that I can find them in dungeons, but it is hit or miss. I have somewhere around 100 potions and none of them are health.

I know that I can make them, but I would rather just spend my 90,000 gold on them. I'm playing on the Xbox, so using the console is out. Any tips?

Sadly I too have noticed that even the Potion/Ingrediant shops don't carry many!

I'll keep my eyes out for any large cashe's

From memory, theres usually quite a few around the holds you can grab once you get on the Jarls good side... Thats all I can offer right now :(

The game seems to point you in the direction of either using magic to restore your health or mixing up potions if you don't want to go the magic route.

One thing you can do is to spend several hours of your time (and many days of game time) fast travelling between towns buying up all the health potions you can find from vendors.
I have to do that with arrows because you can't make arrows yourself without modifying the game.

pick up all the alchemy goods that you can find and craft potions, when your alchemy is high enough the potions are much better, i get lots of items so i do alright although i wish i would come across the recipe for extreme health potion.

Restore Health can be made by combining at least two of any of the following ingredients:
blisterwort
blue dartwing
blue mountain flower
butterfly wing
charred skeever hide
daedra heart
eye of sabre cat
imp stool
rock warbler egg
swamp fungal pod
wheat

Pickpocket arrows from guards. Also go to where the guards practice and take arrows from the targets.

Also, I was referring to HEALING potions in my original post, not Health potions.

I'm seconds away from death. I look in my inventory and see "Potion of Restore Health". Great! I'm saved! GULP! Insta-death. But hey, my max health jumped up 10 points for 60 seconds! :stare:

The designer that made that distinction at Bethesda needs to be beaten.

You don't even need to go that route. Nearly every NPC has arrows and they weigh nothing. I used to not pick them up until I found that out. Now I have thousands of arrows and every type type of arrow. Just grab any and all arrows that you come across. A single large dungeon can net you more than a hundred.

Have you got the fast healing spell? I dual wield it and recover health pretty quickly. You can hot key it to your D pad from the favourites menu to equip and cast it really quickly

Your having trouble? At level 49 I have about 120 assorted healing potions, you find them EVERYWHERE, and not just minor ones, lots of extreme and vigorous too.

Other than that, making Restore Health potions is the best way. Or Restoration but that's not as instant as chugging a potion.

"Restore Health" potions do exactly that...they restore your health points (i.e. HEAL you). If you took a potion that increased your max health points, it was a "Fortify Health" potion. Not a "Restore Health" potion. Here's a description of both of them if you don't believe me...

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Restore_Health

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Fortify_Health

And the ingredients I listed earlier are for the "Restore Health" potion, so you can make as many as you'd like. The better your alchemy skill, the more potent they'll be.
