Where is my game?

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:50 pm

It's been 8 hours since the game was released. Why isn't it in my download manager? It doesn't even show up as "completed" in my order history.

http://www.ea.com/crysis-2

Still says there's 2 hours and 45 minutes until the game is unlocked, at least for those that bought it through EA.

That's fine, but I want to know why the Steam version got unlocked before EA. Even if the users are unable to play until it's released on EA, there is a "preloading" issue.

I don't particularly care, I can wait a few more hours. I'm just kind of curious why users that bought the game through the publisher directly got the shaft...

That would be Steams choice for how they handle it. They had the files as they need to get it setup for there system. I do not think that they were required to have a set time of day, just that it be today when its unlocked.

The EADM just decided that it should be 10:00am PST for there system. At least that is one of the rumored times, which sounds about right from previous games I have had. I think it has to do with the location of the main servers and the time of day it is there.

It should not be too much longer. :)

The Game is in the EADM now for the US. I am downloading it as we speak.

Also I just got my Limited Edition Bonus Code in my EMail. So you all should check for that as well. :)

I can confirm vector's claims. I am downloading it via EADM now and I ordered it from the ea store. I also received my limited edition/preorder promotion codes through email, entered them, and they were accepted.

My process, in detail:

1. Pre order Crysis 2 from the EA store, specifically the EA store.
2. (optional) Notice that Steam unlocked Crysis 2 before EA.
3. Wait until about 9:00am or so for the EA store to email you with your product code as well as limited edition/preorder promotion code.
4. go to http://www.gamesas.com/limitededition and enter the promotion code.

I can't say anything for anyone that ordered the game through any distributor other than EA. Considering that EA is the actual publisher of the game, and the EA site http://www.ea.com/crysis-2 itself says the game isn't even unlocked yet, I would think all issues people are having have to do with the distributor they purchased Crysis 2 from, not EA.

Yeah for digital copy you need to order the game from the EA Store or Steam if you prefer them. Do not go Torrent. I have to suggest that people stay away from those versions, and that is not just because I am an volunteer Mod for EA. Its my personal opinion.
The other option is ordering a physical copy from a retailer like GameStop or someone.

Your location in the world depends on when you will see the game in the EADM or Steam. The US was today and has already started. The UK Release date is the 25th from my understanding. I am not sure of Australia.

Also if you went for the Digital copy or Physical copy will decide on when you get it. The EA Store is not doing Pre-Load for there digital copies of this game. I am Not sure why this title is not doing the Pre-Load, like the others I have bought, so I can not answer that. I think Steam might be a Pre-Load, not sure though as I do not really use Steam.
The Physical copies from the EA Store usually come on the Street date, from my experience. So when ever you get your email from the source you bought the game from they will or should also give you deliver info. You will usually get a Tracking number in the Email from the EA Store for physical copies.

I will say this. It is taking a while to download. A lot of people are trying to download it right now and the files seem large to begin with. Not sure of the exact size though.

my download through EADM just finished, it was going at 1.5 MB/sec which is the max i usually get with anything.

And I would consider this to be a preload actually, considering the EA site still says the game is not unlocked.

Hmmm I am only getting 412 KB for my download speed according to the EADM. Although I am using my laptop and am in a small town.
The download seems to be 8.2GB though from what the EADM says. My estimated time is about another 4 hours.

I can say that my speed test from SpeedTest.net seems low. I may have to look into that after this. I do not really want to interrupt my download a the moment.
