Where to get the best gear

Post » Fri Jan 01, 2010 4:11 pm

Hey guys! I downloaded a mod that makes you level 50 and all stats to 100 and gives you 100,000 septims. I downloaded it because Oblivion has the worst leveling system I've ever seen... -.-

Anyway, so where can I find the best gear for a level 50 charcter who is naked with 100,000 septims (Can't go dungeon crawling). What shops or danger-free places should I visit? Note that both Blunts and Blades go as they are all 100.

And plaese don't say that I'm a weak cheater with no life who svcks without cheats, it hurts my manly feelings... all of them.

Your problem is that the best gear can't be bought, and by making your character a high level, you just about prevented yourself from ever getting at it.

Restart without the mod, it will be easier that way.

Not a great deal. Your best bet is to go to a Merchant and find out. However, chances are it won't be up to scratch and you won't be able to take on the level scaled enemies who have better equipment than you.

I'm with Ghastley, restarting without the mod would be easier.

The only possible item available for purchase that I should think might possibly attract the interest of a level 50 character is a staff called Apotheosis: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Apotheosis#Apotheosis

Aside from that, just visit the diff merchants and buy the best crap they have until your character catches up enough from being jammed up to level 50 that he can survive well enough to garner his own gear through questing/dungeon crawling.

Edit: Misread

The best stuff (I'm thinking about apparel and whatnot) is gained from looting, usually boss chests at the end of dungeons. Transcended sigil stones are usually far more potent than generic magical equipment and custom enchantments. If you're unwilling or unable to hit up dungeons for this stuff, cheat it in, mod it into stores or buy the mediocre equipment that merchants sell. Under the "rare item" category on this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Merchants you'll find the one rare item that every merchant sells.

In any case, you've seriously gimped your game by cheating your character to that level.

You're going to have a seriously difficult time killing the enemies you meet, because they've all got more health than any of the weapons you have can deal with. Magic is probably your only option; buy the most powerful spells you can get.

I'd seriously suggest dumping that mod and starting over. It's a very bad idea, and whoever created it was not doing you any favors.

Why would you download a mod to do that, it's so much easier with console commands...

The best stuff to get is going to be from the Copius Coinpurse in the Imperial City. Great idea! Go to Lvl 50 and then not want to fight or anything! May I ask, why?

If memory serves, best purchasable generic armors are glass armor set. I forgot where you can find one though

Also, some merchants offer special equipments if you have good enough relationship with them (just bribe them all the way). They are enchanted, although they may not sport the best armor point

Non Random Armor
* West of island near Anvil underwater (-53,-9): Fin Gleam
* Jesan sixtius' house in Anvil: Witchhunter Helmet
* Fort Cedrian Mausoleum: Royal Cuirass
* Lelles' Quality Merchandise in Anvil: Boots of the Eel
* In a chest on the Imperial City Arena plaza: Bands of Kwang Lao

UESPWiki knows all. List of non-random armor available in game as loot.

Not sure about what's guaranteed to be for sale that might possibly interest a level 50 character, other than Apotheosis.

Your lvl 50 go buy steel armour or something like that, then go get the best armour in the game which is madness armour from the shivering isles.....

But that depends on if you have the shivering isles or not...

You should play the game rather than gimp up to high level. However, the best equipment I have gained is to get the best level of unmagicced armour / weapon, then either use Grand Souls or the best Sigil stones to enchant the equipment. Gimping to level 50, you will be behind the 8-Ball with the monsters you will meet, all will be levelled to level 50 so any accompanying NPC will be toasted. Better to level gradually and build your equipment stock as availability and skill improves.

Buy http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Apotheosis#Apotheosis and get http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Fin_Gleam#Fin_Gleam. Next make or buy a really good invisibility spell. After that go to the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Temple_of_the_Ancestor_Moths. The last monk in the catacombs respawns every 72 hours and always has 1 piece of really good jewelry on him.

If you have Shivering Isles, then you can go to either smith in New Sheoth to get the best armor for your level. The Orc in Bliss for light armor or Cutter in Crucible for heavy. You just need enough of the corresponding ore for those smiths to make you the armor piece you want.

Points 2 and 3 aren't really necessary since the bandits and marauders tend to do a pretty good job at that themselves.

How to spend money on heavy-duty weapons without actually buying stuff: Arcane University :)

But I guess you already know that and it′s not what you meant so...
