Where's Hopeville?

The only info is on the terminal note. But where is it located? Is it an actual city or town. Or is it a made-up place?

Made up town, I'm pretty sure. Either that or it's a larger version of a small town in our universe. Either way, it'll be the Divide and near Death Valley.

Its a made-up location where a weather experiment went wrong and the reason why the divide's so tore up

In DM, the location was fictional. In HH, the location was fact based. In OWB the location is possibly fact based, as in the Big Mt Ridge, of CA.

What puzzles me, is that the note make reference to "up north". There is no Hopeville CA. The HH DLC took 14 in-game days to get there.

The Divide could be north of Big Empty, intuitively I've always placed it as south of Vegas. Also, Big Empty was mentioned as a supply issue for NCR. Regardless, the Divide is confirmed in-game to be near Death Valley, a dreadful place with really bad weather. Hopeville is a place where weather experiments were done. In addition, High Rd. from the screenshots indicates they will likely be juxtaposing nice names with the inhospitable area. So logic follows that Hopeville is a fictional town established near or in Death Valley and is the set of the DLC.

I reckon it'll be based on a real town/city or whatever, but renamed, like The Pitt for instance.

Hell, for all we know the guys at Big MT started Hopeville because they needed a new town to run experiments on and decided to put it in the most remote location they could get away with.

Death Valley fits the bill pretty well, and it was made a national park after the divergence of our timelines.
