Where do Imperials TRULY hail from?

Post » Sat Oct 23, 2010 5:48 am

Well, I have noticed all races have a very positive location of origin..

Except for Imperials.. It seems to the untrained eye that they come from Cyrodiil. But upon further investigation this is the land of the ancient Ayleids...
So, to make things short.. Were they both there? Or did imperials develop after Ayleids and just take over the ruins?

The whole idea of process of evolution would be shunned upon with the heavy abundance of gods in the game. And since that there really is no scientific explanation of where these people came from.

In greek orthodox its often believed that the gods made people
and the same with the fiction religion in the "Eragon" series (yes I have read the books)
But I havent seen an example of that.
Nor have I seen an example of the beginning in scientific example

All you ever hear is stuff like "Skyrim is home to the Nords"

So... Basically it is a question and a discussion
Enjoy, though I may not participate for a while as I need to get off the computer until tommorow (Its like 2 in the morning.. can anyone say sleep?)

The Imperials are natives of Cyrodiil. However, to the untrained eye, the imperials are two different peoples, the Colovians and the Nibenese. The Colovians are much more nordic, and the Nibenses are much more "slippery" (Great powers of persuasion, and hold high powers of bargaining) and started the Battlemages. But, before that, they were Nedics who were enslaved by the Alyeids.

Nothing really to discuss, all already known. Have some fun at http://imperial-library.info/

The various Man and Mer races are not native to Tamriel, instead the humans (known as the Nedic people) migrated from Atmora (with the possible exception of the Redguards, which either originated from Yokuda, or went from Atmora to Yokuda before migrating to Tamriel) and the Elves (known as the Aldmer) came from Aldmeris. Over time they spread throughout the land, changing into the various races we see today. You can read more about it http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-frontier-conquest-and-accommodation-social-history-cyrodiil.

So basicallly tamriel is like.. America?
Like, a bunch of different people came to it and before there was one race (America - Natice Americans) (Tamriel - Ayleids)

or did the ayleids come from Aldmeris aswell?
If they did come from Aldmeris, what is the relation to Altmer and Ayleids?

Heartland High elves..

So, Altmer came from Aldmeris and the Ayleids were already in Tamriel? then why do people make such a big connection between the 2, for 1 Ayleids were much taller, and smarter, but the altmer are just elves.

All the elven races, which is to say, the Altmer, Ayleids, Bosmer, Dunmer, Orsimer (Orcs), Dwemer, Falmer (Ice elves, used to live in Skyrim), Maormer (live in another land to the south called Pyandonea), and possibly the Khajiit (I never really was clear on that), originate from Aldmeris, changing into the various races over time.

No. Ayleids are a specific group of Altmer who happened to settle into the heartland region of Cyrodiil. From there, they set about either conquering, destroying, or enslaving the human populations who had come to settle within the heartland, and the surrounding lands (which would later be named Cyrodiil). Any differences that the Ayleids happened to acquire from their Aldmeri kinsmen were probably due to the result of isolation and the distinctive characteristics of the geography that they happened to become accustomed to, not to mention the various schisms that resulted from disagreements in religion, such is to say, who to worship or who they choose to worship - the same to which certain groups of the Nedic people became Nords, Colovians, and Nibinese,

Ayleids seem to be a tad bit more powerful than Altmer dont you think..
Any sources? Altmer are tall, Ayleids are... Towers practically. (based on KOTN) It seems to me ayleids were just a race all their own.

There are no Ayleids in KotN, with the exception of Umaril and he's not the best example to go with when determining how Ayleids look. And Aurorans are not Ayleids.

Here's a source for you (PGE3 on Alinor):
"The Aldmer, the progenitor races of all elves, arrived in Tamriel from their original home in Aldmeris or Old Ehlnofey in ancient times. We don’t know what precipitated this exodus or even the location of Aldmeris if it still exists today. Most scholars believe that the Aldmer settled Summerset first, and then spread out across the rest of Tamriel, but there is some evidence to support the theory that Summerset was only one of several initial settlements of the earliest Aldmer. In any case, Summerset became one of the earliest centers of Aldmer civilizations, which developed over thousands of years into the Altmer of historical times.
[...]
According to the traditions of Summerset, the Aldmer who went to be free on the mainland became all the disparate elven folk of history: Chimer, Bosmer, Ayleid. The ones who stayed behind became the Altmer. Even the earliest records of Summerset, however, shed no light on the origins of the Dwemer, who already occupied the northeast of Tamriel when Veloth and his people arrived there."

Ayleids are heartland High Elves. Loreseeker is correct, aside from the small error/typo that Ayleids and all other elves are descendants from the Aldmer, not the Altmer.

It's possible the Hist and the Argonians are native to Black Marsh.

In a very general when-they-were-all-Ehlnofey way, and even then races such as the Sload, the Beastfolk of Akavir, the Dreugh are all suspect to have not even been Ehlnofey, so they didn't even neccesarily come from Tamriel to begin with (possibly being one of the other twelve progenitor races, among the Hist and Ehlnofey).

So then they are native to Cyrodiil, being that Heartland is a common reference to Cyrodiil.

Source or it didn't happen, Pangaea isn't one. As far as we know, Nirn was created as-is, apart from mortal changes to the land (e.g. the destruction of Yokuda), and godly-events that happened in the dawn (e.g.the creation of Red Mountain, the Eating of Snow-Throat), there hasn't been any natural geographic changes to the land that we know of, and given the world has only existed for thousands of years, rather than millions, we can assume that there hasn't been any major continent shifting.

"Nirn originally was all land, with interspersed seas, but no oceans... This war reshaped the face of Nirn, sinking much of the land beneath new oceans, and leaving the lands as we know them." From the Anuad
"All mortal life started on the starry heart of Dawn's beauty, Tamriel." From Nu-Hatta

Take the two in unison.

Damn it, I concede. Though there is the point to be made that, with no oceans, and no political divisions, that there was no 'Tamriel', geographically, or politically at that time.

There's also to the point to be made, that both sources are posioned with Elvish self-importance, the Akaviri might have a similar creation myth calling it 'Akavir' in much the same way.

On the same line, 'Aldmeris' is both the name of this ancient ubercontinent and not a place at all, being rather just the name for a united elven nation.
