Where in Maine will Far Harbor be?

Where will Far harbor be located at in Maine? I have I looked over the map and have two plausible theories. North east of Gloucester just over the Maine New Hampshire oceanic boarded is a group of islands called Isles of Shoals. This seems like a reasonable spot, isolated but not too far away from the Massachusetts coast to make it unrealistic to get there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isles_of_Shoals

Now the other one is about half way up the Coast of Maine and would be a challenge to get to in 2287 world of fallout. But if Bethesda is going balls out this place is perfect in my opinion. It’s an island called Mount Desert island.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_Harbor,_Maine

Its isolated only accessible to the mainland by one bridge which lends credence to the “more feral world” statement in the release description, but also there is town on the north side of the island called Bar harbor. Seeing how Fallout history and names are always a little off from actual history and names I think this could possibly be “Far Harbor.”

The town itself has some local historical locations, many influential people lived there before the historical divergence like Rockefellers, J.P.Morgan, and the Astors, and in addition to its many hotels it has a fishing industry and many people travel to see the humpback whales and other Marine wildlife. Maybe we will finally see Peg the Great Feral Whale.
So what do you think?

You're probably correct. Bar Harbor is the only place it could be imho.

You're right. I went into google maps and tried to compare Mount Desert Island with Boston, and http://i.imgur.com/T5OepTU.png. I tried to get the zoom levels even, but the scale could still be wrong. At any rate, if Bethesda's proportions are even close to matching between Boston and Mount Desert Island then they weren't kidding about this being their largest DLC landmass to date. It won't be as busy or dense as the Commonwealth, it seems, but in terms of sheer area it looks like it's about a third the size of the Commonwealth map. The more wicked part of me wants to compare Far Harbor with the Capital Wasteland or Mojave Wasteland, but I'll wait until we get a real in-game map to compare. Jury's still out on this one.

Damn. 2/3 Commonwealth + dungeons is no joke.

I wonder if this time the place is full of mountain and forest

I live in Maine and have been to Bar Harbor on Mt Desert Island many times. Mount Desert Is is only accessible by car/foot by one bridge from a small town called Trenton, all other access is by boat. Bar Harbor itself is small, and there are several other smaller villages such as Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor. But the primary feature is Acadia National Park. There are also many smaller islands around Mt Desert such as the Cranberry Isles and Bartlett Is. I'm pretty excited to see if this is the area they modeled the expansion on.

I hope there are more magazines. i need new magazines, and bobbleheads, no wait guns, and a new companion that annoys me at times. But most of all i need something different to kill.

Sorry, just woke up, babbling. I should have kept that darn. Nope can't say it. I need a refreshing beverage.

Oh ya, i also wonder where it is.

Mount Desert Isle seems right. You can have a town experience and a wilderness experience in the same place. Plus the lobster dinner. I had some of the best lobster and seafood in Maine. I am from the Boston area and camping in Arcadia National Park was amazing. I never saw so many stars in the sky.

Many years ago when PCs were NOT omnipresent, AD&D was THE game of choice. Besides TSR, there was a cloud of supporting companies that produced adventures, modules, and playing aids. One of those was an outfit called The Companions. The central theme for most of their products that they were set in what they labeled "the Islandia campaign." (Much like Greyhawk was Gygax's usual campaign setting and Blackmoor was Arneson's primary campaign setting.) The way The Companions did their maps for Islandia was they took the topographical map of Maine and raised the water level 200 feet. What was left exposed was a collection of islands. Hence the title, "Islandia".

I mention all that^^ because as you may have noticed that in Boston, a RW port town, much of the harbor area and coastal areas North and South are submerged in FO4. Obviously the Apocalypse caused some climate change that raised sea level @20' (I'm guessing) by melting the polar caps significantly. So Far Harbor may very well be a RW community that is further inland than you would expect normally. Very likely a up-river port town that is now on the coast.

My personal guess is that the most game-worthy town in Maine is Portland. Not as big as Boston, but certainly large enough to provide more than enough inspiration for a DLC major community.
