Where should TES5 take place?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:07 pm

Akavir or Skyrim. But has more chance to be in Skyrim, because I think that Bethesda will show all Tamriel first, and then introduce other continents.

ELswyer(spelling?) would be interesting it could feature Deserts, Jungle and Sprawling city oasis'.

I would really love to see Summerset Isle. I have no problem with Skyrim, I just hope to be able to explore Labyrinthian.

It sounds like Skyrim will be it not because of this poll but because of quots from high lvl beth emplyees. This is to bad, I got nothin agaisnt skyrim or nords in fact i always play as a nord but I get the feeling the landscape is going to be a real bummer. Cold, snow, mountians, I already played bloodmoon that was a nord island what more can you do (yawn).

Enjoy your game in 25 years, then. Or enjoy it in 2 or 3 with absolutely everything completely randomized and nonsensical, coupled with the whole continent of Tamriel getting scaled down to a 7 or 8 hour walk.

Well, some have suggested it might not be completely snow covered, but this greatly depends on whether they bring back seasons from Daggerfall.

Except that it was not a Nord island. It was a Skaal island. Two completely different things, in terms of culture, beliefs, and what's going to be there. And Skyrim is not Solstheim, just as Skyrim is not the Jerall Mountains, just as Skyrim is not all snow, irregardless of seasons. At the very least, one-half of the province is river-valleys, temperate forests, and otherwise pleasant Norway-scenes. Arguably, the sea-level northern coast is the same way. It's the south-southeastern portion that has all the ice, snow, and cold. And the architectural possibilities involving that are pretty amazing once you consider them.

you know, im just going to link http://ladyn.tamriel-rebuilt.org/Skyrim.php again. It explains, in brief and with cool pictures, why Skyrim would not svck.

Exactly. I think it could be a beautiful setting. Let's give the extreme example of the Arctic tundra. There is still green there. We know that as Atmora is further north than Tamriel, so we can assume that it likely contains a large area of tundra. If even Atmora could be green, Skyrim surely isn't all snow. Seriously people.

That is brilliant. Not only does it completely disprove all the common misconceptions about Skyrim, it's got me even more excited about the prospect of TES V being set in Skyrim.
I'm almost tempted to link to it in my sig.

Who really cares where The Elder Scrolls V will take place? No matter what, it is going to be extremely fun and exciting, just like every other The Elder Scrolls game. Even if the setting is Skyrim, and it's all snow and mountains (which I don't have a problem with), it will still be very fun. Remember, Solstheim was pretty much snowy hills with some mountains, and it was very entertaining.

I voted Skyrim, but then it would be all nords, that might get real boring. allthough im sure they would throw the other races in there as well (i like Redguards and orcs)

I can't picture it taking place in Summerset Isles, unfortunately. It's so remote and far from the Empire, especially with what's happening at the moment. They could have done it with Oblivion, because Morrowind's story didn't really link with Oblivion's. By the sound of it, this next period of time is very important.

I voted for Skyrim because they haven't made any TES games on this region and i like snowy environments, harsh conditions, limited foggy sight maybe...But i really doubt that Bethesda take this poll into account. I mean they already must have been started developing and you can't start making a game before deciding on which region the game's based.

Well i did write this before, my biggest issue with Skyrim would not be the "all snow an ice" thing (though there is the BIG risk of beth doing a major screw up). it's the "Will it all appear COLD" feeling.
It doesn't have to be all snow and ice to give that, it's just if it radiates that feeling that everyhwere you go you need a thick coat so you don't freeze to death. Now some people have jumped on me and said "NOOO it will not appear all cold, there will be spots without SNOW", you obviously did NOT get what i said <_<...

HOWEVER, just looking around, a LOT of people argue "It will NOT be all snow and ice" but then when i hear why Skyrim is supposed to be so great the say "because it will be so much SNOW AND ICE"...

Been playing Bioshock today. That game looks cold. Esp the icy bits. Theres lots of frosty particle effects around the place and shiney patches of ice everywhere.

Black marsh.

I want them to save that until they get better technology. Look at their "jungle" section in Blackwood, in Oblivion.

What? I liked black marsh. Though it did have alot of room for improvement. I think that it can be done well with current tech, I love the jungles from Farcry 2 (Its a pitty the game play svcked).

Hammerfell.
Big barren deserts, anyone? Camels? People with turbans?
Slightly "tropical" areas, as seen in Redguard.
Pirates of the Carribean style!

What's there not to love?
