Where should TES5 take place?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:50 am

I would love it to be set in Argonia (Black Marsh). I've really come to like Argonian lore and culture, and the provinces' environment sounds really interesting and unique.

I could go on, but I've said why in quite a few polls before and meh, I get lazy :P

For me, Skyrim, because...

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=985390&hl=.
It's politically divided up into separate city-states which translates to massive political opportunities.
It has the best of both worlds for craggy mountainous terrain and temperate river-valleys.
Nordic theology and perspective is hitherto only slightly fleshed out and hella interesting to boot (Kalpas anyone? Shor anyone?).
There are numerous already-established points of interest to work in or revisit, such as the Labyrinthian and High Hrothgar/Snow-Throat.
All your Greybeards are belong to Skyrim (and I want me some Thu'um).
Were-creatures get a well-expected and likely comeback.
Provincial borders are potentially a lot more interesting (conflict and tension at Dunmereth Pass?)

And because I've spent so much time writing suggestions for TES:V assuming Skyrim that I've grown quite accustomed to the idea.

Skyrim, for all of the reasons quoted above.

Pyandonea

Clever, but you could only play as one race. :P
Unless some faction decided to spontaneously set sail there.

OH COMON PEOPLE! Skyrim has already been done in sorts, remember Bloodmoon, Island that was like a mini Skyrim??!!! Not to mention Norse type mythology is a very overdone cliche of fantasy. Truthfully I don't really care where the game takes place but I'd rather it was J.R.R Tolkien elvish clone land that a desolate iceland. The one thing that makes me hate playing Fallout 3 is the landscape, and from everything I've heard Skyrim is the ugliest of them all!

I Like Morrowind because it had all types of land and all types of civilizations and that made the game playable for a verry long time.

I would like to see the Neverine's expedition to Akavir but hearing about the patent pending rumors, I wouln't be surprised if it turn out to be Skyrim.

Skyrim seem fine, just as long they did not half ass it in term of land and make it a 100% snow.

I'd be fine with Skyrim as well, but I don't want it to be 100% snow like you said, but I also don't want it to be Solthesthiem 2. I want it to actually be new and exciting. There should be dense evergreen forest. I'm not saying Oblivion speed-tree. I'm saying http://quakeragitator.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/nj_pines.jpg in parts, mountains in others, and I suppose there could be a Solthesthiemesque snow plains area leading out into an arctic coast if they really wanted to. But seriously devs, read the lore this time. After all, it is your job to know it. :stare:

I voted for Elsweyr (sorry if I spelled it incorrectly). I think it has more of a potential of being an "alien" environment. I'm afraid if they use Skyrim all we'll hear for the next four years is: "this looks too much like Norway, its generic" which is what I've been hearing about Oblivion for the last 3 years.

Plus, I love Khajiits and really want to get to play in their homeland just once.

I am surprised Summurset is not doing better. I would love to see it, particularly as modern rendering and effects are starting to be able to recreate its description and mythos in the lore. But then we have had "Elven exoticism" in Morrowind and they would almost be going back on themselves. Apart from that, Valenwood/Elsweyr would be very interesting.

So it's going to be Skyrim? Hm.

Did Solstheim contain the intricate subversive qualities that are held by a province steeped in numerous kingdoms and city-states, all possibly conflicting with one another? Did it contain a plethora of royalty of all colors, to whom you could pledge allegiance and learn more about? Did it have thousand acre woods, rivulets and tributaries flowing through yawning chasms and canyons stretching all across the Hammerfell border? Does the traditional Norse Mythology you claim the Nordic culture imitates have some of the wisest wizards --Greybeards-- in Tamriel sequestered in its depths? Did it have a secluded school devoted entirely to the awestriking magical power of Thu'um, or the way of the Tongue? Did Solstheim have an astounding amount of magickal beasts, all hardened to survive in the intense climate, such as http://www.imperial-library.info/bestiaries/bloodmoon_large_giantfrost-1.jpg and possibly the feared http://www.imperial-library.info/tsomw/bm_udyrfrykte.jpgbeasts of legend?

No, Solstheim is definitely not Skyrim. Oh, and by the way, my vote is for Skyrim.

Theres allot of uniqueness to Cyrodill too but all I felt playing the game at first week was Lord of the Elderscrolls. Also Solstheim did have Frost Trolls, and one Udyfrykte. As an environment in creative fantasy Elsweyr, Blackmarsh or even Highrock with its orcs would own Skyrim!

I spend most of my time in Oblivion up north near the border of Skyrim looking out into the country thinking "what if?"

I'd love to explore that country.

Valenwood. There were alot of rumors and topics about things not going well there. If TES:V is based in Skyrim not only are you wasting a pottentially good windup but, worse, you're gona hear about the fallout of it 2nd hand.

Edit: Truth be told I thought it would be based in the Valenwood/Sumerset Isles/Elsywer area (multible regions ftw) for sure because of all the rumors flying arround in Oblivion kinda like how there were rumors were flying arroud trouble brewing in Cyrodiil, during my stay in Morowind (honestly seeing what couldv'e been and what actually was made really disappointed in the MQ storyline).

Posted it in other threads before but in my opinion the game should take place in two provinces together, in Valenwood and Elsweyr, not only would it give you a lot of different landscapes and climate but also different political and social structures and a very long coast line allowing ship travel. You could even put in a border conflict between elsweyr and Leyawiin county.

Even if they wouldn't up the scale anymore both together would about be the same landmass as Cyrodiil but they could even mkae them twice or even 4 times as big and it would still fix well since they can have very different regions from dense forrests, jungles, savanas, stepes, deserts, rocky canyons, swamps, grasslands to costal regoins and mangroove forrests. You could even put snowy mountain ranges in there along the north border, as far as i saw on a map the south border of Valenwood has snowy mountains too.

Additionally someone suggested with that they could do a MAJOR expansion pack that contains Summerset Island which would be quite awesome.

Alternatively, after seeing a fan made map of Highrock i'd love to go there too, again because it has ver diverse areas reaching from snowy highlands to deserts.

Skyrim for the snow and ice or Summerset Isles for the magic.

Summerset Isle and the coast of Valenwood.

I wouldn't be too upset if it ended up being Skyrim, I liked the setting of Bloodmoon.

I vote Valenwood. I want to see the Silvenar.
In fact I would like it if it was to take place in 2 provinces - like in Daggerfall - in which case I'd like a Valenwood/Elsweyr combo, so it can feature all the different breeds of Khajit too.
I'd like Skyrim the least - it smells way too generic.

oh my god that would be awesome!

e happy with anywhere besides Morrowind or Cyrodiil - unless they decide to disavowal all knowledge of Oblivion and try again, which I'm perfectly fine with.

Akavir. Its a place with little info, and I'd like some of the mystery explored in game.
