Where's The Beef

Post » Tue Mar 10, 2015 11:41 pm

I got screwed up on this mission with not having a high enough speech skill to talk the chef out of the room, so I rescued ted gunderson and killed the chef!

Next I called the head waiter and hid in the closet where I found ted, with ted. The waiter took the meal and headed up stairs to the gormand dinner and I followed shortly behind, watched the dinner and busted Mortimer.

Mortimer got away, ted and I (slim Jim) were being attacked, so we ran out of the casino. I failed the quest because heck gunderson died, yet I was stuck with ted!

With Boone, Ed-E and myself we now had Ted Gunderson as a follower!! Only problem Ted wouldn't fight! Kind of a funny glitch I had going, so I started to think of all the ways Slim Jim was going to kill ted and hide his body!!!

UNFORTUNATELY!!!!

I walked off the strip into freeside and without having a clue what was about to happen, poor ted gunderson was absolutely desecrated by the securitrons!

HAHAHAH... it was so funny, I loved watching that one!

Thought this might help for those of you who messed up the ultra lux thing like I did, get stuck with ted and really not sure what to do with the poor kid. Plus it was a good laugh!

I like the Ultra-Luxe in general because of its perfect facade hiding some serious creepiness, but I hated this quest.

It had its moments, but the whole thing was a gigantic, tedious maze in a small space.

I liked the early part of the quest, which is like a 1950s detective story, but it gets a bit too fiddly when you head down into the kitchen.

Beyond the Beef is probably my favorite side quest. A sinister plot to uncover full of exciting moments. From the investigation, the ambushes, disguising yourself within the bowels of the Ultra-Luxe, and the final confrontation. How Little We Know is also very good, and also involves one of the others from the Three Families.

I really liked How Little We Know.

All of what you said about Beyond The Beef is true, but I still find it hopelessly tedious.

Did anyone else end up with Ted as a follower and waste him somewhere?

Any other weird glitches you guys experienced?

To be honest I hate walking into the ultra lux and someday may build a character who will walk in and start blowing everyone away! Maybe make it my new home??

My latest visit to the Ultra-Luxe:

Greeter: "Pardon me, could I trouble you to hand over your weapons?"

Me: "Could I trouble you to blow it out your ass?" <-- (this is an actual dialog choice :D)

Greeter: "How wude!"...general mayhem ensues :chaos:

Strangely enough, I only had to kill about half a dozen White Gloves. Then the rest calmed down.

And I've never been able to finish Beyond the Beef any way but rescuing Ted, and bringing him back to Daddy.

strange, I am able to complete the quest. I think you may not have been hidden, or something. maybe just a bug, but I usually am in sneak mode when I do that "bust Mortimer" part of the quest.

The bug I have encountered (perhaps it's not a bug) is when you approach Mortimer while he's talking to the white gloves and tell him that Ted is alive. It immediately speeds through his dialogue and automatically turns everyone hostile. Have to wait until he's done.

Funny, I just finished doing that a half hour ago. Blew 'em all up, ED-E, Veronica, and me. I couldn't find Ted, though. I wanted to get him because I remembered from the last playthrough what an arrogant ass he was.
