I bought a dog from this Gene guy telling him I would take care of the dog in Sanctuary.

Just as I had actually paid him the 250 caps some woman named Ness arrived and Gene and Ness started fighting each other. I managed to 'talk' to my new dog (nothing to say, there is just the 'Talk' prompt everyone else gets) so I'm sure I actually bought the dog. I tried killing Ness but found out that was not possible, then my new dog attacked Ness who incapacitated it, then continued fighting Gene. I thought maybe leaving the place would stop the fighting so walked off in the direction of Sanctuary, Dogmeat in tow. Last thing I saw before leaving the place was my new dog attacking Gene.

No new dog to find in Sanctuary even though I do have a few dog houses there. I have tried exiting the game and restarting but the new dog seems not to appear.

Anyone tried anything similar?

Any chance my new dog will appear?

Here is hoping I meet Gene again getting a chance to buy another dog.

I bought the dog from Gene and sent him to Red Rocket because it looks like i've maxed out my settler count at Sanctuary.

He still wasn't there a day in game time later, so i built a dog house there.

I carried on adventuring and eventually he turned up in the dog house.

Have you searched all the dog houses in sanctuary? There are a few dotted around.
