Where's the 'Grab' button?

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 9:17 am

Eh, not a big deal. It's not like it had a real use anyways.

oh it had use :) i used grab alot sometimes to disarm pressure plate traps with rat corpses or use it to lift a ball and chain trap to strike at a pursuing foe i loved grab and it better be there in skyrim.

update from pete. holding A drags the item, pressing it picks it up.

So for console players you hold A button, so then you move it around with right joy stick...Some funky finger tricks

I can't imagine them NOT including it.... just trying to figure out how to do it.

Its either Left/Right trigger with weapon sheathed like it was mentioned earlier OR its if your standing still and use right bumper(normally sprint) to grab and then move around with the object but unable to sprint while doing so.

@DCDeacon Will we be able to grab things in Skyrim like we could in Oblivion?

@FulGore1295 Yup. Click A to pick it up. Hold A to grab it in the game and move it around without picking it up.

That'll be a little tricky with thumbsticks while holding A I imagine. I was thinking of using a 360 controller on my PC. Oh well. Keyboard and mouse then.

Thanks so much.

That confirms it and gives us some new info and puts some fears to rest as well.

Those are the crappiest controls i've ever seen in my entire life (except maybe for Resident Evil 5).. Correct me if i'm wrong but isnt Y like triangle for the PS3? Shouldn't jump be A and activate be Y?? That's just messed up O_o

I think the jump button and pickup button were the same on Oblivion for consoles. Correct me if I'm wrong.

huh its right there in Activate/take, i think its the action button and the action you can do varies between circumstances, for example if a fish passes near you, the A button grabs, if you are near a switch the A button activates etc...

Edit: nvm it seems this already got solved

Fillin' in the blanks. Holding A for a bit grabs the item. It stays "grabbed" until you press A again, so no need to break your thumbs holding A and moving/looking around.

And LB is Sprint, RB is Shout. I promise.

No kidding.

I picked up my 360 controller and trying to move around while holding A down is a giant mess.

Glad we can still grab but this is going to be a giant mess.

So if I click and hold 'A' on a fish I can drag it to shore and drop it and watch it suffocate.

I'm good now. Thanks

What do you mean? If grabbing isn't in Skyrim for consoles. It's not going to be on the PC version ether.

Why not? There isn't any strict law that says a PC must not be able to do something a console can't...afterall, PCs get to run mods. That said, I seriously doubt that feature has been overlooked, it's probably just not blatantly obvious from what we've seen of the control scheme

edit
nvm, that was some quick sleuthing :P
