exactly ace, 3 months and not one word about the next dlc..HmMmMM so either the dlc are cancelled or there are some major changes in the dlcs, probably because they are getting mass feedback on how unbelievably boring the game gets and how little replay value it has, if they don't fix the main map/environment somehow, there is not gonna be anyone around still playing the game to buy dlc, its like they ignored the majority of the fanbase which was all the people who loved FO3 and bethesda games for their exploration and dynamic worlds and instead they made the game appeal more to the old fallout games fanbase, which is a minority. and dead money wasn't any good either so that didn't help the situation.
See,
westoftherockies, right here, was this text
really necessary?

you not playing it kinda speaks for itself, a really good game would have sparked more interest from a lot more people and had a lot more replayability, i expected a lot more from new vegas, the environment was just too static and non interesting, the desert was way too empty, so as an open world game its broken in my opinion, not only are there not enough human enemies to fight, or no random encounters, there's a lack of interesting areas, prob 90% of the map is empty, and not just empty of enemies, empty of everything, no good hiding places, or places to sneak around, no good places to fight enemies, very few places to explore, no random events, well guys at least the game is plausible and believable, and after all, those are the most important elements of any game as we all know.
i agree ace, they could of made the desert a lot more interesting, the one cool town where you actually fight something "camp searchlight" you can't stay long cause the radiation lol, its like they purposely made the game so you had as little to do as possible, its ridiculous, with an area that big, it could of had all sorts of enemies, random encounters, patrolling factions, ghost towns, more building complexes, look at camp searchlight airport? talk about underachieving, it could of been a lot better, look at nipton, that was a cool town, but there is nothing happening there once ceasers legion leaves, so i think obsidian did all this on purpose, they were far to wrapped in trying to make the game "believable" so it all "made sense" well thats boring and i have it said it before and i'll say it again, imagination and creativity are more important than "realism" and "plausibility"....artistic license, creativity and imagination took a backseat in the game unfortunately.
the desert environment is really boring and to most people there isn't a lot to do, the environment itself is bad, no good hiding places, no large buildings or towns to fight in and sneak around in, i think some peoples idea of a lot to is "reading dialogue" to me that doesn't count as lots to do, if i wanted to read a book i would of bought a book, not a video game, video games are interactive, at least most of em are, but as far as exploring buildings or towns, fighting enemies, stalking enemies, sneaking around, hiding, etc there isn't much of that in new vegas, the city area was ok i guess, it could of used a little more danger around it though, so at least you had to hide or fight or sneak around, just running around most of the map with nothing random happening or anything interesting to do isn't very fun. :spotted owl:
i don't hate new vegas, it just doesn't have a lot of replay value, obsidian ignored what most people want in a fallout game, which in a simple sentance is, lots of things to do and an interesting environment, it was a fun game for a month or two, but obsidian did ignore several important elements, exploration, interesting game environment, random encounters/events, the poll says almost 60% are finding the game boring, so obviously obsidian ignored what most people want in a fallout game. most people don't want less to do, like most people really want an empty desert with no random encounters, hardly anything worth exploring other than a few shacks and tents, this isn't gonna happen again, new vegas is prob gonna be the last boring fallout game. the rest of em will be a lot better.
my reason for not purchasing any more dlc is i'm already bored with the game, the map is too static and empty and dead money svcked and just adding some 2 or 3 hr dlc isn't gonna fix the game, its broken and even though its fun to play the first 2 or 3 times it very quickly becomes repetitive and since the map world is static, mostly empty and the environment is lousy i'm done with new vegas forever, i can't see dumping another dollar into the game. :flamed:
some of you are in denial obviously, you even say its a desert and not much is in it, well most people find that boring, there have been lots of polls on this forum alone and other forums on the internet and its always a majority who thinks the game was good but it gets boring pretty fast, its like you're trying to convice yourself that most people don't want a lot of content in a game, you think most people don't want a lot of good enemies to fight? you think most people actually like most of the map empty? you think most people actually hate random encounters and events? do you really think most people hate having buildings and secret type bases to explore? just face it, the people who like the game empty and the environment dull is a minority, and you're in it.
:sleep2: this thread/poll pretty much says what i've been saying for the last couple months, the environment is not very dynamic, there's no randomness to the game at all, not even one random encounter, no matter who's faction you side with, the game plays the same, many elements of the game is broken and thats too bad cause it had a lot going for it, there was a huge lack of explorable places, they needed to use far more artistic license to make the game environment fun, interesting and replayable, hardly any super mutants, hardly any human enemies to fight, no dungeons, the environment was boring as hell, no good places to battle or hide in my opinion, obsidian was so concerned about "believability" or "plausibility" that it basically stopped the creative process. video games need to be made in a way that uses a lot of creativity and imagination, too much "realism" isn't the winning formula for a game like fallout, or any game really.
dlc isn't gonna help i agree, the base game needed to have a far more dynamic gameworld, obsidian put a lot of effort into "believability" and "plausibility" etc and a few people like that i guess, but that does lead to a somewhat bland environment.. realism isn't the way to go for a game, real life is generally predictable and not all that exciting for the average person, you wake up, go to work, get home, watch some tv or maybe go walk your dog etc, thats not exactly how i want my games to be like, i want cool places to explore, some danger, adventure and fantasy..."believability" and "plausibility" needs to take a back seat to creativity and imagination and not the main element.
