Raiding Hidden Valley can be dangerous as well. Bring a can opener.

In Caesar's tent...the stealthboy/silenced weapon tactic is my favorite simply because it's so funny to watch all the Guards/Vulpes wander around the tent going "I thought I heard something" while you're shooting at them. Taking them head-on is definitely fun tho...one of the few big challenges. I always feel bad for Vulpes tho...here's all these Guards with their Fists and poor Vulpes can only pull out his little Ripper...

You should place c4 under caesers throne. I just walked in they got up to attack, boom. Then I went back later. Only 2 dogs were in the tent, the corpses dissapeared, except for Caesers, the best part is its just two legs, like some cartoon

You really like that C4, don't you? heheh.
I'm not into explosives much. I prefer stealth/sneak or open confrontation. I did see this one YT video where someone placed a lot of mines/C4 and had a viewpoint of all the bodies flying very high into the air. That was hilarious to watch.

Most dangerous place? The killing field in front of the Nellis Air Force Base. Cowboy perk+Brush gun+ SWC ammo means absolutely nothing against the Boomer artillery ;)

The (Censored-Diddly) Quarry full of Deathclaws. I think between me and Boone we took down 3 before we got killed.

Okay, has no one else encountered the Blind Deathclaw at Harper's Shack? Holy [censored] !!!! I tried sleeping for hours/days - it was outside the shack waiting every time I exited no matter how long or short I stayed in there. I was crouched down, hidden, (and with about a 45 sneak). And it comes into the shack after you, so running in there is no defense.

I don't know if it is because my character is only level 4 or if the Deathclaws are worse in New Vegas - but she was nearly unkillable. I used up all my dynomite, frag grenades, frag mines (which didn't go off when she stepped on them, for some odd reason - I had to shoot them to get them to go off) - bullets from any of my guns had no effect on her life line, neither did flame throwers. GAAAAH !!!

I quit counting how many times she killed my character after fifteen - either right in the door as soon as I exited, or inside the shack. I was stuck there till I killed her or redo a whole bunch of wasteland exploring from the previous save...so fought it out. WHEW !!! And there is a legendary one worse than her? GAAAAH !!!

Here's an update -- For the first time in 4 characters, the neighbors have gotten frisky. ED-E, the homicidal little idiot, picked a fight with them so now I have to remember to be ready to fight every time I go home to the shack (I really should walk up and try to draw them off). The Blind Deathclaw, a young Deathclaw and three regulars come charging every time they respawn. I don't mind the target practice, but damn it -- they're in my yard.

When you have the YCS/186 with Max-Charge cells and a CZ57 minigun, nothing seems difficult anymore. Silver Peak, the Promontory, Vault 34, all cakewalks except for Dead Wind Cavern with just plain hated me.

The Deathclaw Promontory.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Deathclaw_promontory

Absolutely, what was with the number of Deathclaws they put up there? And to go through all that, and have the bodies not show up? The Wikia said if you let them all respawn and re-kill them all, that the bodies will show up. They didn't, only their guns showed - one at a time, meaning I had to let them respawn two more times. No bodies ever showed, no power armor, no cards - and no ammo for the guns. I was totally out of bullets the third time I fought them, I had to do it with just the Pushy. I would never have gone through all that except for the loot, that is BS that they make you kill a billion deathclaws and thought it more important to overwhelm you with deathclaws than get the loot you went up there for to begin with.

Lots of really dangerous places, really. My personal unfavorites are places with mobs of deathclaws or my pet hate, giant radscorpions. I loathe those scuttley bastids - is it my imagination or are they a hell of a lot tougher than they are back in DC? As for the crashed vertibird site - mental note, buy/steal the Pulse Gun from the Silver Rush and my robot problems are over. Personally I think the highly radioactive sites can be deceptively dangerous; nothing obviously happens, but you need to keep a sharp eye on the radmeter or you'll suddenly fall over dead. Makes exploring Camp Searchlight a bit difficult.
Yes, getting mobbed in Caesar's tent is really nasty. I managed to get through it with one try but I was playing on Easy. Poor Boone and Rex got mashed, though.

I went to Quarry Junction and died 3 times as a level 23 :/. Then I discovered that the Ballistic Fist messes them up! Killed the Alpha Male in 2 hits <.<

Being new to the game, I still haven't explored everything yet. Vault 34 was definitely my favorite though. I just love zombies, and that vault simply reeked of them. It probably would have been better if I had been higher than level 5 when I found it, but it was great fun in the nerve-wracking sense.

I went in completely unprepared, killed the first area with relative ease, I was a little surprised at their strength (I had evidently left the normal taken route and was grossly overmatched), but I survived the first few encounters relatively easily and pressed on. I ultimately used all my ammo for everything except my 10mm submachine gun. I had never used a machine gun before, seeing as my .357 revolver had never failed to kill things before. I got trapped between the bottom armory floor and the respawned army of ghouls behind me. I was literally trapped (I only used the quicksave function, not any real saves), my only hope being the armory, all the while my radiation was getting dangerously high. I seriously thought I would need to restart the whole game.

Finally finished it with, I kid you not, *3* 10mm rounds left. And that was it. I fought the final fight with the glowing security gaurds on ammo picked up from the kill before it. I went fought them all at once, scavenging the ammo as each on died and using it to attack the next. Made it to the armory, got EVERYTHING and overload walked and gunned my way out and limped my way to McCarren. The whole way on slow walking speed with insignificant health and ~890 radiation and no supplies beyond a crapton of weapons I still use to this day. Best time I've had in this game yet, so difficult, but not luck related and a reward to fit a king (At least at my level it was).

Well...er... would you care to give a detailed play-by-play? Tips? Hints? GAAAAH!!! My character just reached level 12, and they are killing me within minutes. Nothing I hit them with has any effect on them, although Veronica punched one of the Mr. Handy's out. I have been doing Med-X and Psycho mixtures to hit them harder - I may take that robotics perk next time I level up and try that. I have been hitting them with 40 mm grenades, the Gauss, - nothing seems to phase them.

They are, with DT being implemented for them unlike in FO3. Now, you need either overwhelming damage output or AP rounds to make enough of a difference, especially with one skittering towards ya.

Always seems for me they zero in on my position if the first shot doesn't kill them. They make my skin crawl more than any other creature, especially with how fast they can move.

They're actually not all that special of a bot, in spite of the "hardened" name. They have a DT of 0 and just basically have a high HP. Soften them up with some sneak attack crits or otherwise use something that spits out lots of damage. Dunno about hollow points, but I bet those could be used to good effect. I stick to using hand loader ammo and AP rounds.

And pay mind that your skill is high enough for whatever weapon, though I wouldn't know if a Gauss rifle would be powerful or not, only ever really stuck to ballistics.

I made it out of there (finally). I used everything, even the Tessla itself! I had run out of Stimpacks - finally I just ran like a banshee, which is pretty hard on severed legs, lol.

Has anyone else taken the "Long walk of shame" in Vault 11 ?? I was stupid enough to !!

I finally made it through the Deathclaw Promentary and the Quarry - still haven't survived the Dead Winds Cave or Black Mountain.

That's actually one of the more challenging battles/encounters I've found in the game so far. You're in a narrow room with limited place to maneuver and almost no cover vs many tough Sentry Bots and some mean turrets as well. Going in cold and not knowing what to expect, I ended up using just about every chem I had plus bullet time (VATS replacement) to eek out my hard fought survival. Had less than 30 health left at the end of that battle out of a hitpoint pool of over 400 and was addicted to Med-X and Slasher, but I lived so it was worth it.

It's Bison Steve's Hotel, actually. Plenty of enemies and you won't most likely have a good gun, armor or skill when you go there.
