Where's the Religion?

Post » Wed Mar 24, 2010 4:52 pm

Its possible that whatever religion is predominant in the NCR is the predominant religion in New Vegas. Could be a form of christianity (like we saw in Fallout 3) or it could be something completely different. I would find it hard to believe that there is no religion however.

How can't you believe in what you can't see? Faith is just that. Faith. You have faith God doesn't exist, Alex has faith God does exist.

In the end, we are all searching for something to devote our life to. Love, six, Self, God, Violence, Greed. Whatever your pursuit, that's what drives you. Personally, if someone in the wasteland believes an old glowing cardboard box is God on earth, and it's allowed them to become a wo/man spreading a message of kindness and human purpose, who are we to deny people of their right to self expression? It isnt hurting anyone, let them be.

@Door- Speaking as a young man who has tread many paths of speaking and thinking, I find the use of religion in a non forced way to be very delightful.

Well religion hurts lots of people i mean the ones with a religion fetish the proper imbeciles as the saying goes "science flies you to the moon religion flies you into buildings " and you know that some priests have the child at heart perk if you know what i mean ;) .

That may be so, they weren't living in an alternate universe though. One were there are quite literally creatures that will kill and eat you if you are anything less than ruthless.
I find this to be quite absurd, people will fight tooth and nail against aliens being in a DLC but actually 'want' something as ridiculous and contrived as 'religion' in an RPG/FPS...

Religion is part of human nature, and as far as I'm aware human nature is one thing that isn't different in Fallout's alternate universe. The fact that you or I might think it absurd is neither here nor there, churches still persist despite our disapproval.

Just to be clear, my position here is about versimillitude, it's not about ideology. It's not about shoving opinions down people's throats, but accurately representing patterns of human behaviour.

(Actually, I think some more stuff on post-apocalyptic religions and belief systems could be really interesting in a Fallout game. Look at religion and it's role in TES.)

Whatever religions or perceived religions there are in the game, discussion of real life religion is not permitted on these forums. so guys and gals I am going to close this discussion - sorry but a number of posts have been pushing the boundaries.

.............. and spamming a countdown to lock is an even worse offense than prohibited topics. :stare:
