Where's the wedding ring?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:35 pm

I'm doing the quest "A Night to Remember". It's the drinking contest one. Anyway, eventually you end up in Witchmist Grove in order to get a wedding ring back from a hag.

But she's not there. Her sister-hag is there and she attacked me, as was supposed to happen, but the one I need the ring from is nowhere to be found. My marker keeeps pointing inside the house; and I've scanned the floor so many times over it's disgusting. I've also ran perimeter circles around the house looking for the hag with the ring... I did that for so long I ended up killing two dragons, two mammoths, and a giant. That's how long I looked for this stupid ring.

I gave up and moved onto other things. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

well, you could either look if its a kown bug, find the id for the item and add it to your invo, leave the quest, or stop and think what you may have got wrong or havent done.

I'm on Xbox so I can't change anything. As for doing anything wrong, I don't know what I could have possibly done. There were supposed to be two hags; one who I'd apparently proposed to, and her sister, who was supposed to attack me. The latter portion of the interaction occurred, the former did not.

If I can't find a solution to this... Fourth quest bug I've run across

1. My MQ is broken
2. Alteration Ritual Spell is broken
3. Helping out the female dark-elf mage at the college is broken
4. A Night to Remember is broken

This may well be the last straw. Bugs happen, it's understandable. But 4 different broken quests plus the screen freezing/crashing, the animation chopping up and going super slo-mo during certain battles, the disappearance of dozens of saves, and several other things have finally made me side with the people who said the game was released too early. I don't know what the technilogical limitations are, but if those are the reasons for all these problems then scale the thing back or spend a few more months getting it right. The game demands a lot of time as it is; at least have it work the way it's supposed to.

The hag doesn't have the ring. Ysolda does.

But Ysolda's the one who told me to go get the wedding ring back. She said "It was one of my finest pieces". I should add... I'm married to Ysolda. Can I get my wedding band and give it to her as a replacement? But the problem with that is that I haven't completed the part about getting the ring from the hag. If that requirement isn't met then it doesn't seem likely the storyline would continue. I'll give it a shot and see.

But me giving "it a shot and seeing" when a quest goes down the crapper has only amounted to me wasting hours in futile efforts.

I'm pretty sure I killed the hag to get the ring.
Otherwise there was no point.

I've only ever found Moira at Witchmist Grove (or mages at earlier levels). AFAIK no other hagraven spawns there. You're sure it wasn't Moira? Did you try returning to Ysolda and talking to her?

Update: I went back to Ysolda with the wedding band from when we got married. She didn't ask for the ring but I was given a couple of prompt choices. One was to intimidate her to get the information I needed and the second was to pay her 2,000 in coin. Being that we're married, I just gave her the 2k. Then I went and finished the quest. All's well that ends well... I guess.

It's still a bug but the quest isn't broken because of it. I'm just glad I probably have something like 200K in unsold items laying around. Also, at these levels (40 and up) you always seem to be walking around with at least 10K anyway.

I went to get the ring and the hags were dead already....picked up the ring, but now the dialogue to give it to Ysolda doesn't initiate when I talk to her, she just talks about the Trade Caravans and Khajit.
