Where's the wire

The quest Taking Point requires hooking up a recruitment beacon that requires "wire" to hook up to the generator but Seriously -you can't make one- haven't found one and am sitting here stewing any help would be appreciated Thanks!

It's at the Castle, yeah? You need to build a generator and in your main menu of settlement building is a "attached wire" option. Space bar by default, I believe.

Yah, it's one of those things that is not explained very well, but ANY device that requires electricity from a generator will have an option (Space by default, as noted) and if you hit the Space then the device will get a white border and you'll have a sparking wire on your cursor and every other connectable device will also highlight with a white border, so you can connect it to a conduit or directly to a generator. If the two devices are too far apart, then the wire will turn red, but if you are close enough, it will "snap" to the connection points and show a complete wire from one to the other. Bear in mind, long-distance wires will droop and that can look bad in some places (I'd clothesline myself if the wires were actually collision-able items).
