Where do they get iguana bits?

Post » Thu Jul 01, 2010 8:34 pm

Seriously... There are no iguanas in this game unless you count the Geckos but that wouldn't make any sense. It's the same thing with the squirrel on a stick or whatever it's called. There are no squirrels in this game so where do they keep getting it? Are they lying about what it is? Are they invisible? Do they only appear in certain places?

Maybe they're just re-naming the "Strange Meat Pie" and selling under a different "brand" name

There have been many topics about this in Fallout 3 general. They all come to the same conclusion: It's a game.

But I prefer my games to be logical and internally consistent - that's just sloppy work

edit : and why on earth is this moved to Hints/Spoilers forum????!?!??!?!
Now, THAT'S illogical !

I don't see how this a cheat, hint, or spoiler at all.

More so on topic, the mentioned food items don't come from any animal (I think) in-game on a regular basis (I have strangely seen Iguana Bits on a Coyote once before, which was weird). They are just there.

Why was this moved to the Fallout 3 section too, when the question was pertained to New: Vegas?

I totally agree. It makes no sense, but there's nothing we can do about it. I think they were going for the "survival in the desert" vibe, as lizards are kind of a cliche survival food. Only problem is there are none in FO3/NV.

NV added those crows as "ambient critters".... I'd guess they could do the same thing with squirrels & iguanas, if they really wanted to. /ponder

Well in F1 thats what they were. Doc Morbid was trafficking in human body parts and selling them to Iguana bob to make food from them. (The iguana-on-a-stick anyway)

That's right - and in North Vegas Square, I did see at least 1 person actually eating iguana-on-a-stick also

People seem to forget that the fallout universe is actually bigger then what is potrayed in the games, and each indivdual games adds and takes away certain things.

Anyways my answer is that there are creatures like iguana and squirls living in the wasteland and that human survivors use them as food. They probabaly don't include them as actual game animals because they would be too tiny to actually kill, and most of the creatures are almost always hostile and a squirl and iguana wouldn't be very threatening. Squirls are very common animals that live in North America and could survive the nuclear war and make a great food source. Iguanas on the other hand aren't common as wild animals in the US (at least I don't think they are), but they're very common pets so they could have survived in pet shops and just got loose into the wild and started breeding like the radscorpions in DC that used to be pets you'd find in pet shops before the bombs fell.

Sometimes in games like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout you have to use your imagination and think outside the box. Not everything in the game potrays exactly what the world is like, some things are missing.

Of course it's not real life, it's better then real life! Real life is boring and less interesting to talk about. ^_^

There don't appear to be squirrels or iguana's in the game. But they may have been wiped out by the war.

Those squirrel and iguana bits may have been from pre-war. Note that on many of the grills in the outdoor pre-war parks and campsites there are iguana and squirrel bits on the grills. So apparently they were popular pre-war. Otherwise having them on the grill that wouldn't make sense, right? Not to mention the destroyed refrigerators containing them.

However, I'm not sure why there are so many bottle caps in pre-war safes.

The game can't show everything. "Hey, there are no maize cobs on the plants, never! How can they have them in stores?!"

And how come there is stil electricity in the metro stations. The generators should have run dry by now.
If there still is fuel for the generators, then why doesnt anyone use it to drive vehicles?

answer: its a game, its not created to be 100% realistic i guess

I answered the Iguana/Squirrel question above.

But one of the things I wonder about is why are there so many tin cans in Metro Stations? Seems like bunches of them everywhere. It's not like the Metros were food stores. My guess is that canned goods were brought in by people taking refuge in the Metro right after the bombs fell, and those people are now the Feral Ghouls there.

its part of the game, you also observed that when you do a head shot to an enemy npc without a helmet, they are still alive, its nothing but a gaming irony, something in the game you could actually ignore if you see the logic in real life.
