Where do I use certain keys?

Post » Wed Oct 21, 2009 3:59 am

Hi all:

I got a couple of keys and haven't been able to find the places or buildings to use them. Could anyone tell me where I use:

Black Brugo's Key?
Ungolim's Key?

thanks in advance!

Black Brugo's key unlocks some coffer in Telepe, but I can't remember the exact location (some gold and a note). Not needed if you have a decent security skill.

Ungolim's key IIRC is just a key to his house.

if u got black brujo's key u proly in that small ruin, where their safe is locked behind a closed gate ( button in a nearby room opens it). that key goes into the safe.

Ok cool...then I've already got what Brugo's key gives.

However, does anyone know where Ungolim;s house is? I wanna loot it. I need stuff to fence for the thieve's guild. :D

EDIT: NEVERMIND I found out....it's in Bravil.

Not every key you get opens something. Take a look at the first page on http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Keys - there are five keys to nothing just in the "A"s in the list.

UOP fixes a lot of those (especially Castles) but not all.

My question is, do I HAVE to carry around keys after I've used them once? I have too many and want to get rid of them!

Once used, the locked door/chest should be unlocked forever, so if you are sure you got all you can with a Key, feel free to drop it.

afaik, the Mages Guild key is the only one u really need to have at all times (plus the ones for quests / places u have not yet been).

Not true in general, but usually the case when a key is involved. Anything marked as a persistent reference in the CS has its state remembered in your save game, and most "key-only" doors/containers are set up that way, but it's not automatic, so don't count on it. There are several situations where a door or container has a key, but the lock is also pickable, and they're less likely to be persistent ones than the type that can't be picked.

There's also the special case of the Sigil Key in one of the Oblivion worlds. Since it's supposed to be a new, but identical, world each time you enter it, you need the key to open the door every time, and it may even be a new key as well (in the inventory of the Sigil Keeper).

I usually keep all guild and buyable home keys in a chest at my main safe house, once I've unlocked the doors they were intended for. Otherwise I just dump any used keys (ones that I've already used once) on any dead corpse. I've not run into any problems doing that.

Edit: there are some keys that are useless if your security skill is good enough or you have an open spell.
