THE WORLD WOULD HAVE EXPLODED!!!. The only reason why that didn't happen is because Fyr new iit was falling and so built the Ingenium.

That's a curious point. If Sul meant that they had the best Dunmer minds working on the Ingenum then Fyr would have to qualify.

There was a Dragon Break, and as such he had always been a god, even before his 'human' self was born.
Vivec is Dead. He lost CHIM, and was either killed by the Nevarine or by Dagon.
Edit: or zero-summed

Or he CHIM'd.

Arguing that the Sermons are non-canon makes me rage. Everything in the sermons should be taken literally and metaphoricly at the same time, and all of it should be seen as truth regardless, imo.

Anyway, Vivec is chillin' in the Provisional House(where he's watching stuff go down) with MK and his other bros.

I just want to comment that most everything related to Vivec is a Deus ex machina. Deus ex machina just is the internal logic of Vivec-as-god. S/He wouldn't be Mastery otherwise.

Isn't that one of the natural byproducts of being a god, that everything you do is an "act of god".

It was before my time on the Lore RP/forum, but no one's mentioned "The Trial of Vivec" yet. One of the possibilities for his fate is that he left for Aetherius when he chose to (pretending to go along with a public trial until that moment).

The novel mentions him being taken by Daedra. I don't think it ever had a chance for becoming official.

Ah yes, the Trial of Vivec. I consider it canon, and always will until proved otherwise.

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed in the book he was taken.

I just remembered that I once read that in Tibet before the Chinese invasion, literally every family had at least one son or daughter in a monastic order. I wonder if something like this was true for the Temple as well, before the Nerevarine and later the Oblivion Crisis. I can picture the Temple being almost as pervasive in the lives of the Dunmer as Buddhism was/is for the Tibetans. One indication of the shakeup that followed the Crisis was the Dunmer you encounter in the game "Oblivion" who says he used to be in the Temple and went to Cyrodiil following "the Collapse".

Having just re-read the book I am fairly sure it says he was probably taken by Daedra, but mentions other rumours as well when Sul is talking about The Red Year - Such as he either left of his own volition or is dead.

It doesn't confirm.

Well, I'm glad it's not "confirmed." I think leaving his fate - along with those of Cosades, Fyr, Hasphat, Nu-Hatta and others - a mystery was the right decision on Bethesda's part. Doing so ultimately leaves the final decision in the lap of the player.

If you've read the sword-meeting, you'll know Vivec is a pretty bad-ass swordsman, and he's also probably a pretty badass magician. I don't think the daedra could have actually taken him with force, he'd have to have gone willingly. Yes, I know he's not a god anymore, but if the Sword-Meeting, like I mentioned has any truth in it, he's an ansu. Unless it was a few thousand Daedra they would have fell face down in the dirt, most likely.

I think it's a red herring, personally, but when you think about it, "taken" doesn't always imply force. "My friend has taken me to the store to buy a snack". Could mean he formed some agreement with daedroths to go to one of the Oblivion planes. Doesn't just have to be Mehrunes Realm, either, even though the people of Vivec might assume that because of the attacks.

Thoughts?

I agree, with the addition that we know a little about what happened to Cosades after he was recalled from Vvardenfell. Ken Rolston wrote two brief items about Cosades (from after the Oblivion Crisis). While they're not technically canon, I respect that Mr. Rolston took the time to write more about what AFAIK was his character:

Problem is, the humans you mentioned, even if they weren't in MW, are probably pretty old or dead, since it has been 40 years after Oblivion.

Thankfully elves live longer I like to think Fyr is still alive.

Most orcs from OB and MW are dead or close to being dead. A 60 year life span is not much.

That's one of the reasons why the destruction of Vvardenfell didn't impact me so much. Most of the NPCs I know and love have passed away by then.
