Where will you go first, and how will you get there?

The map seen in the video where Todd shows us around Bethesda's HQ said that the land near the Morrowind border is http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1158031-skyrim-map-discussion-2/page__view__findpost__p__16970309 so I assume they're trying to make the border realistic.

I'm referring to seeing across the border. I would imagine that the mainland near Skyrim would have had mushroom trees... or at least not volcanic tundra. We don't really know what mainland Morrowind mainland looks like but I thought it would be cool if the mountain closest to that border would allow a glimpse of Vvardenfell and if White Gold tower may be seen on the Skyrim-Cyrodiil border.

First I'll explore the nearest 500 meters of my starting position and head straight to the nearest city (if I'm not already in one). After getting to know the people around there, I'll head out into the wilderness and start hunting. Hopefully there will be plenty of animals who are non-hostile and great fun to hunt, also many different types of animals.

I'm definitely going to make Solitude my first "place to visit". Not that I'll skip towns to get there... just that those are nothing more than waypoints. Solitude is the only DESTINATION for me :)

No, it's not a crater. Vvardenfell's a crater, but mainland Morrowind is only overrun by Argonians. See, the situation isn't nearly as bad as being a crater. :P

Ok, can someone please specify wtf happened in Morrowind while I've been gone?

Vivec disappeared (rumored in Oblivion), the Ministry of Truth crashed into Vvardenfell and pretty much destroyed everything on it, and Argonians successfully conquered the mainland.

Ah, I see. Yeah I'd love to actually see something other than just random land across the border. If the view distance is as good as Bethesda claims in the Game Informer article, there's a lot they could do with the borders.

The moonlet floating over the city of Vivec crashed into it at the same speed it was originally going before Vivec "stopped" it. This activity caused Red Mountain to erupt and cover Vvardenfell in ash. During this cataclysm the Argonians invaded and slaughtered the Dunmer on the mainland, and any refugees from Vvarddenfell fled to Solstheim. Now Morrowind is controlled by Argonians and the Dunmer are a scattered people.

This all happened between Oblivion and the book The Infernal City, and the above was just a small summary.

If there isn't a giant mountain blocking us we better be able to see White Gold tower. I could see it from Bruma in Oblivion so I don't see why not.
Also, if the eastern border has mushroom trees of Morrowind I think it's safe I won't be the only one traveling their for the nostalgia :P

If the game starts off like Oblivion, I will go to the dungeon right outside the prison exit.

And as hopefully Skyrim would not have the level scaling like in Oblivion, you would get you @$$ handed to you on a silver platter.

It's confirmed to be more like Fallout 3. So, that's very possible. I personally stumbled upon the quarry full of deathclaws right near where the game starts in New Vegas. Needless to say I died very fast.

Yes, that happened to me as well.

I would start a sneaky nomad life and sneak around, trying to estimate the danger level of areas and perform jobs as they present themselves to me.

Help this guy, and steal from that guy, and hunt that beast, and run away from another, and so on...

That wouldn't be starting out like Morrowind, either, if that's what you're hinting at. My first dungeon in Morrowind (the bandit cave outside Seyda Neen) was pretty easy, as were nearly all dungeons I came across., The only one I got my rear end handed to me in was a Daedric ruin I entered when I was about level 6. I came back a few levels later and killed them all. :chaos:

On the map. In the North-West corner. There seems to be some kind of Delta. I want to see that.

I sure hope that in Skyrim we would start in newbie areas, but have some nearby high level areas and dungeon that force us to retread hastily and go to other directions.

Maybe even a low level dragon, right in the middle of a nearby cavern complex, with a warning sign or a guard in front of the entrance.

We could later return and clear those areas as we like.

I agree, but the first dungeon should be the confidence-builder, in my opinion, and some of the others the confidence crushers.

Windhelm will be my first stop. And I'll be walking.

How should I know.

They haven't told us anything about where we are starting or what we can do.

It's TES, you can go anywhere you like.

That would be brilliant. And Solstheim in a skybox. Sadly I doubt they'll do so.

Probably this. I tend to stick mainly to the MQ on the first playthrough, but do get sidetracked by any dungeons/ruins I come across or interesting sidequests.

Wow thanks for the compliment! I appreciate it a lot. But of course there were so many other people who contributed to the Speculation threads who did just as much, if not more, than I did. SyltStrider, Mr. Tissuebox, and Stain just to name a few. We all did our part to make the wait a little more bearable.

Just murder the first person you see. That should do it. :P

Really, it might do it.

I'm playing as a Ranger so as soon as I get out I'm gonna find the first settlement and get comfy there for the nights ahead. During the day I'll go out and explore, hunt, build up a kitty of money, maybe about 10k and get to about level 4 or 5 before beginning to hit the game. Even before I start the MQ I'll probably be fairly high in the Fighters Guild and have done a good 30 side quests.

I'll be going towards the nearest village/city, buy a few drinks from a pub, and then steal stuff.

There had better be a better way to get into the Dark Brotherhood. It doesn't make sense that they would just come right up to every random murderer they find. Especially if that guy is world famous.
