Where will you pre-order from?

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 10:47 am

i dislike automatic pistols, besides the glock, glock is also semi-automatic, i perfer revolvers and semis.

I love revolvers, too. Like the whole western style of dispensing a volley of shoots one after the next only to roll into a reload. It's fun. From what I seen from brink videos though, revolver class weapons have a pretty slow rate of fire. I'm guess they probably pack quite a punch. So I decided to hold off until I see some weapon stats comparing revolvers to machine-gun pistols. I'm a runner, I like to dispatch people quickly and swiftly as I move around while my buddies take them from the front. Can't see myself doing that with a clunky hand canon.

If you get headshots you can...

If you just wanna pump players full of bullets quickly, get the machine pistol.
If you are accurate and get headshots, go with the revolver.

Keep in mind you also get a scope with the Hockler. though I'm not sure if it's exclusive or not, I don't think it's available at the start of the game.

All of the stuff should be Exclusive. If the Green Scope from the Spec Ops pack is available in a way other than the pack, they'd basically be saying "**** you" to everyone that pre-ordered that pack.

You think so? I think people would be ok with it, being that the gun is still exclusive along with the skins. It's just an attachment, and even if it is an unlock-able, it's still something you get before anyone else.

Look, if I pre-order something and you tell me it's exclusive content, it better stay exclusive. If it's not exclusive, then tell me up front that it's not.
But for a large portion of people (I'd even go as far to say the majority) they are not OK with this. Pre-Order goodies are becoming a big problem because there are a lot of games out there that offer these things as a bonus for getting the game calling it "Exclusive Content" then a month later releasing it to the public, either for free or they have to pay for it. It's not fair, and it's not right. Like I said... If it's not going to be exclusive after a few months, just let me know now so I can cancel my extra pre-order.

Yes, but you're treating it like if the scope isn't exclusive content then none of it is, which is not the case. Just like the Bulpdaun SMGs aren't exclusive to the Doom pack, only the skins are, etc. You're still getting exclusive content for pre-ordering, just not every little thing about it is. And I 'm not even sure this is the case with the scope, it might be totally exclusive for all I know.

Yes but those are clearly "Skins" the Spec Ops pack says it's a scope, not a skin.
If it says it's exclusive, it should all be exclusive. Not "Ohey, all of the other packs have everything being exclusive, but the Greeneye Scope isn't. Have fun!" Don't give me a pack that's labeled exclusive when not all of it is.

Check http://360junkies.com/xbox-360-system/1542-brinks-digital-pre-order-bonuses-can-i-haz-them-all.html out. It DOES say the Green-eye scope is exclusive, but the suppressors that come with the Psycho kit are described as "new" unlike anything else we know to be exclusive. What do you suppose that means?

That a scope is a scope is a scope, the only thing that changes is magnification and the crosshair; While a silencer can actually have different stats?

I don't really know, but that is the only thing i can think of.

They also use the term "unique" for all of the tattoos, which is different from "exclusive" for most of the other items.

The fact that there is a pattern implies that the terminology is relevant. But as far as definitions go, they all seem to mean the same thing.

Well it clearly says "The Resistance’s improved Soda Can Silencer..." Either there's a Soda Can Silencer in the game normally but this is an improved version, or it's saying the Soda Can version is an improved version of the regular silencer. Which makes sense because you can't say a scope is "Improved" because the scopes are all gonna be personal choice things. Do you want the red dot, do you want a scope, do you want the iron sights, all of those things are dependent on personal choice. When you look at the silencer, and the second one has undeniably better stats, then it's improved. And seeing as the Silencer is the only part of the Pre-Order packs that could be labeled with "Improved" then it makes sense that it's the only one that is.

I have noticed the "Unique" on the tattoos, and my only conclusion for that is... They're called that because when you choose your tattoo, you have to stick with it. The clothes you can change, but the tattoos you can't so they're "Unique". I dunno though.
Or they could just be referencing to the artwork, saying they're much different than anything you can find in the game.

this entire page just delayed me from pre ordering lol.can anyone help me decide? spec ops still feels like the right choice because im security but if i can earn it in the game instead of dishing out a few extra bucks for it i rather not pre order, and earning it will give me one more thing to acomplish in brink.

The scope and pistol in the Spec-Ops kit are definitely exclusive, as is the revolver in the Pyscho kit. The silencer seems like it is as well, but the language explaining it is just odd. If you're leaning toward the Spec Ops kit and the only reservation you have is whether the scope is exclusive or not, it is, for sure. so you can put that behind you.

There's no Archtype that comes with it, you mean the mask? The Mask is. But either way, everything that comes in the pack SHOULD be 100% Exclusive.

Oh no :( I didn't notice this. I hope the Silencers are still exclusive, it's the only reason why I chose it over Spec Ops :(
If you can get the silencers in-game, then what's the point in pre-ordering them, when I can pre order the scope, which it says is EXCLUSIVE, rather than new. Then I can have both and not feel ripped off.
Aww :( I hope someone can shed some light on this before it's too late to cancel with Amazon.

I'm guessing it's the aesthetics of the silencers that are exclusive only. As Shadowcat said earlier, what different functionality is a silencer supposed to have? And we know there are going to be other silencers available in the game, so to call an item with no exclusive function well...exclusive just doesn't seem fitting, and that's why they used the term new. I'm not really sure. Either way, the Caesar Revolver and all the other skins in the pack are all exclusive... so unless your desire to have an exclusive silencer skin outweighs your desire for everything else in the pack, and you might not want to take the chance and switch, I'd just stick it out.

There's lots of stats silencers can affect other than silencing the shot

Hm, wasn't aware of that. In any case, whether it actually has different stats from any other available in the game, or if it's just a skin for a non-exclusive silencer (a la the Doom Bulpdaun skins) I suppose it's still exclusive. In other words, no one will be able to attain that silencer with either of those skins unless they pre-order the Pyscho pack.

Well it does say that it's supposed to be "Improved" so I would think it has better stats on it, otherwise the Spec Ops pack is the only one with an attachment that actually does something.
And usually the Silencers on games will either improve or degrade the accuracy of a weapon (Depending on whoever's making the game), and then also degrades the power to it. Sometimes other things, but usually it affects those two stats.
