Where would you like to start off the game ?

In a cave, dark damp and injured you wake up:
You were with a group of fellow [Insert race]s were strolling throught the woods after many a pint of mead, laughing and shouting and attracted a local group of bandits and then were attacked, blindsighted by a group of cowards in the snow, but thats not the worst. The bandits were loud enough to draw the attention of a nearby troll, the bandits flee! We won! We won! Yay (high fives for nobody)!
Then the troll lets out a guttaral roar, and strikes you, your party flees. You faint, and the troll drags you off to his lair, you have a dream, that you were in a meadow. The scenery is beautiful around sunset you see your mother, you reach out to hug her, and she becomes engulfed in flames! "Why [son/daughter] would you leave your poor old mother to die?) Thats it, you were getting drunk to forget what youhad done, well, it worked you had forgotten. At what cost though? You awake in a cavern its cold, dark and damp, the trolls have made a jail cell and locked you in! With an injury in your left arm. "ouch, that stings, I need to fix this, but how?" [If your alchemy is a major skill, use herbs, if a type of armor is a major skill, cover the limb, if restoration is a major skill use a spell, and so on and so forth, all theese things would need to be in your cell, on a dead adventurer or a growing mushroom] Once your arm is fixed you hear stomping. Thud Thud Thud. Thaen see a large hunchback man step out and open your cell. "You haf-f Serve Yerr S-ssentence." he stutters. Why am I here, you walk out and try to escape the cave, but see crates full of weapons! "I should take one just in case." you say to yourself. Well its a good thing you did, the cave is full of bandits, marauders, and thugs! ]This is where you begin with a journal entry that says there was no troll, and that the mead must have hit you harder than expected and you need to find a way to escape]

Well you can be a prisoner without being in a prison.... just look at Morrowind. Personally I would like to have a more open ended beginning of prison, escape, and then exploration; far more so, at least, then Oblivion. That tutorial dungeon really, really got old. It would be nice if the Radiant Story changed up the location of your imprisonment a little every time. Not too drastic, but if I have to start out in a dungeon... I don't want to do the same one every time I want to start a new character.

What I think would be cool would be something more than being stuck in a cell I have to escape from. Perhaps when you are captured you start off with your execution, but instead of just having some burly, hairy guy cut your head off, your captors chain you to an ice flow and push you out to sea. And you have to escape this chain and slip into the water and to the coast without being eaten by some vicious sea dragon. Or you are put in a Gibbet in the Fall Forest, and some passerby can help you out (mentor character most likely). Just something out of the ordinary. That is what I would like.

^ This.

I believe I read in the recent Game Informer magazine article that we will again start in a prison, but if we're going to 'escape' from it, I'd like to actually ESCAPE. Hear other prisoners talking about my upcoming execution. See a thieves guild member slip in and slide me a single lockpick, telling me about a cache of supplies in the forest nearby, then the guards start coming down, and the Thieves Guild member wishes me luck and runs off (possibly make it so the Thieves Guild member was romantically involved with you in your past and offers you a some kind of heart-wrenching goodbye before leaving). Trying to pick your cuffs before the guards get all the way down, then finding a place to hide - in the corner, masked by shadows? Holding yourself against the ceiling, holding onto the chain bracket, maybe? If the prison is on a cliff, maybe slipping out the window, holding onto a precarious finger-hold as the guards come in and search for you? Then having to get out - maybe by watching guard patrols after you are out of your cell - seeing if and when the gate is unguarded for a precious 10 seconds? Maybe making a run for the wall and jumping over, trying to land in a nearby pile of hay or somesuch? Or sneaking up behind a guard and knocking them out/killing them, taking their armor and weapons, and trying to walk out casually? Heck, why not put in all of these. Even better, make it so the WAY you escape will level up those skills a bit extra - if you knock out or kill the guard, give you a bonus to your sneak skill. If you try to dash out to the wall and jump over it, throw you a bonus to your athletics. If you try to fight your way out, give you a nice bonus to all your armor skills and your blade and block skills. Just please, PLEASE, PLEASE don't make it so static like TES4: Oblivion was. I want CHOICES! :flamethrower: :obliviongate: :toughninja: :shocking: :whistling: :bolt: :gun:

And the best part of all - make it so if you get re-captured or fail to escape, show us our characters execution! :pinch:

I'd quite like to start in Erik Erikson's cheese emporium, surrounded by wheels of Stilton and other blue-veined cow-squeezings. I expect that'll probably be how it starts anyway, which is convenient.

In a deserted place at the heart of nature (up in the mountains, in the woods...) with no sign of civilization as far as the eye can see. I don't see how you could get away from an execution without anyone knowing and coming for you otherwise.

Prison being transported to the common area for public execution before a dragon pops in and says "hi."
