Where Would You Want to Grow up?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:00 pm

So I was reading about how there's going to be kids in Skyrim and it got me to thinking...what would it be like to grow up in the Elder Scrolls universe? More specifically, what town or city would you want to grow up in if,or when, you were a kid and why? (Feel free to choose cities/towns from past and future games)

Personally, I would have loved to have grown up in Balmora. It's a perfect sized town and its homes are close together, which makes for a close-knit community (most of the time). Oh, and there's a big freaking river running through it, which would be an awesome place to swim and cool off. What about you?

I would not want to grow up in in the TES universe. There are so many life threatening things that go on. Blight, Oblivion gates, dragons, and the list goes on.

Summerset Isle. "What you got at school today?" "Double destruction, enchanting, and alteration, then after lunch we get to cast drain stamina in pairs."

I was going to say this...or maybe Mournhold, but then I remembered.....Ordinators! They are a bit to creepy to have to bump into everyday.

I really liked Thirsk (the big hunting tavern in Solsthiem), because most of the people there were really nice.....until something happened to them... :sadvaultboy:

I also like the Imperial City. It just felt a bit too small when compared to Vivec (which sometimes felt too big).

I would want to grow up in Caldera I think, or Suran. Not too big or too small, very pretty, and some cool stuff to do.

O.o Oh it would be quite something I assure you. For starters the Altmer of Summerset Isles selectively breed, I don′t remember if they killed their babies at birth if they did not have the correct looks or just forbid Altmeri from breeding with those with the wrong facial features and such, but they are trying to ensure every individual has the "perfect" look. So starting out looking nearly exactly the same as your same gender peers you′d also be stuck with a pretty strict upbringing. The Altmers have some perverted obsession with being "perfect" so I imagine it could be quite restricting and bland to be an Altmeri child.

At least if I got my lore right.

As for where I′d like to be brought up... probably in one of the more civilized towns of Cyrodiil. Anvil or Chorrol perhaps. But that only counts for while the Septims were alive and kept the place in order. Now I′d imagine being brought up in High Rock would be best despite their bland and uniform ways as long as I′d be born into either a noble family or a middle class family, as a kid in High Rock I′d most likely grow into advlthood with some knowledge of magic, which greatly appeals to me but if I had to be a peasant child there then I′d rather go back to Cyrodiil most likely.

Well from the ruins it was a nice town, it was the only other place other than the Imperial city to have an arena. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?act=findpost&pid=1 there we go artist rendition of what it would have looked like at the very bottom

I'd never live in Vivec. In Morrowind, I was walking around in Vivec. Then I fell through the floor. I never saw that place the same way again.

"Early literature by man painted the High Elves is poor light, though the reliability of these accounts is questionable given the racial tensions at the time. It was suggested that the Altmer practiced eugenic infanticide, putting to death nine in ten of their newborns for being of impure bloodline, that Altmeri names are simply combinations of numbers in their own language, and that the Altmer culture revolves almost entirely around displaying social status. Later writings contain no mention of any of these practices. Whether this is because they don't exist any more, never existed, or do exist but simply go unmentioned, is not known."

All propaganda by the Alessians, honest guv'nor.

And this my good man. Is why I love TES :) So full of lore and speculation and books and you′re not just told right up front "oh this book isn′t actually true, this is just what the author thinks".

In any case I think I may still stick to my choices, if the elitism in the altmeri is as bad as it is in Cyrodiil then just imagine how it would be straight from the source!

Sentinel, Hammerfell. I like living in big cities, and it's an important place in Hammerfell. Redguards are the best, so I'd like to be part of their society and to grow up experiencing their beliefs.
