Where do you call Home

Because you really can't personalize is the way you could in FO 3 I don't spend as much time with a home as before. I suppose Lucky 38 because I have all my companions wait there.

The motel room in Novac is definitely my favorite place to call home :)

Simply due to it's central location - Novac. Although I still use Victor's shack in Goodsprings and the Presidential Suite at the Lucky 38 every now and then.

Me too.
I like having everything (except a campfire, which I don't use anyway) right there. I also like the Well Rested effect from sleeping in my "own bed".
I have definitely had it glitch (freeze) on me a few times but I just make a hard save before entering/leaving. A bit of a hassal, sure, but ...

The closest campfire i Novac that I know of is in the Gibson Shack behind the Scrapyard. It's a short hike but it's nearby.

In my latest save/playthrough, I'm going to utilise The NCR Ranger Safehouse, as Kicenna posted, it's centrally located on the World map and also has a clean source of water, handy for those playing hardcoe mode. Currently, I'm only about level 5 and so still using Goodsprings as my main base of operations, more specifically Doc Mitchell's house. In my previous playthroughs, it's always been Novac for some reason. Maybe because I had a steady stream of caps from beating No-bark in a game of Caravan.

Spoiler
This is my first post here on these forums so please be kind :3

I like the Fisherman's Shack as well, the lurks are only around at night, but it's more of a safe house than a home. I actually don't have a home, I use my own safe houses for when I'm in the vacinity. Victor's house in Goodsprings, the motel room in Novac and the motel just outside the gate of camp Mcarren.

So do you guys decorate? I get a real kick out of placing items in all my pads to make them look lived in. Lay out some guns and ammo on the shelves along with a couple of weapon repair kits or something. Some food, some chems and some books. Who else does that?

I haven't done a lot of decorating yet but I've been putting the Intact Garden Gnome in the NCR Safehouse next to the bar for a lucky charm. I figure I can use all the help I can get and I think it'll be a tradition now. :)

"...according to Old German lore, the garden gnome is a good luck charm, a symbol that the forces of nature are on your side."

I murder someone in Goodsprings and take their home at the start. Then I transfer to Lucky 38 once I've killed House.

I usually use the gas station in Goodsprings, although the lack of any crafting stations is a bit annoying. Am thinking of using Harper's Shack with all future characters, since you appear right in front of the door and it has all 3 crafting stations as well as plenty of storage. The neighbors aren't exactly the sociable type, but they do deter thieves so it works out alright. :D

In the begining I use the trailer near Godsprings source. Has a bed, suitcase for storage, campfire and free purified water ( I play hardcoe - cheap healing). Plus you appear right in front when you fast travel.

After that I switch to the hotel in Novac

I was looking for a new place to move my stuff, Found harpers shack, was amazed, the tried to go meet the neighbors :( . Harsh welcome. Great spot if you're careful with those gung ho companions.

I'm currently posted up at Moutain Shadows Campground.

Rad free water within walking distance
Traders within walking distance (188)
Use veronica for crafting table, reload bench (188), campground has fire.

They really did a great job w/ alternative places to live in FNV.

Novac really is a near perfect vanilla location. A little far from the strip but still centrally located. The Lucky 38 and a few others would be okay but I really hate having to zone several times to get in my house.

FOR ALL WHO LIKE THE NOVAC MOTEL I'd like to recommend http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38117. I spruced it up a bit and expanded into the next room. Truly hardcoe players might not like it due to a couple items. Work bench, loading bench, cooking stove, Mojave Express box, Infirmary and Lab in the room. Like I said, truly hardcoe players might find it a bit too "easy" but it may also give incentive for non hardcoe players to give hard core a try.
