where do you guys play?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 2:41 pm

i am playing on ps3, but have a hard time finding full games or even half full games with other human players.

i know you can play the campaign and a couple different free play modes online, but with so few people actually playing the game not all the modes are full of people.

so where does everyone play?? i thought people would be in the competition mode in free play, but i was on for 2 hours last night and found just 2 people.

I'm sad to say I play offline. It could be just be my connection, but lag plagues me mercilessly.

I should also add that I play on xbox 360.

I'm on PS3, and I've found my best luck jumping into either campaign games or competition settings. There are decent numbers in Standard as well, but Big Teams REALLY depends on when you go online (if I had any time sense at all, i'd explain when the best time is, but I can't keep track of when I play well enough to do so). As you bounce from map to map you'll run into more players on some, and less on others. And that varies over time as well.

I'm sorry to say that multiplayer is impossible on my xbox360, but i've read now that it's an issue for many xbox360 users. i'm considering getting a PS3 copy. can anyone tell me if multiplayer performs well on playstation?

thanks

I mostly play Co Op where anyone can join, but sometimes I venture in to full on Multiplayer.

i was considering buying on 360 just because i knew it would sell more...which is important considering the fact that this is a team based online multiplayer game. and considering that this game hasn't really sold that well to begin with, the more players you can get the better.

but i got in on ps3 and have had almost no problems with lag or anything. the biggest problem is finding enough people to fill the games. there are always 2 or 3, sometimes 5 humans on each side. but its never consistent.

i with they would have a mode where there are no bots and it matchmakes with human players only.

I was with you until the last line.

Go to Freeplay. I know Old Skool has no bots, I think Competition is bot-free as well.

But I'm on PS3, and I've had full games a few times, although more often than not it's between 3 and 5 a side. Not bad, but will be nice when the playerbase picks up (it will - this game hasn't sold massively yet, but it's not hemorrhaging players like the 360 version has been, so the playerbase is more likely to grow over the next few months than shrink).

I'm also yet to have a problem with lag that's affected more than one player in the match looking glitchy and weird - and it wasn't bad enough to cause me any problems murdering him.

I've been doing campaign and standard freeplay matches. Standard mostly because I end up playing at night or when my girlfriend and I are home together. I'll play and she'll watch The Office - right after we get through with some MK9 action, though. :toughninja: I think that we'll start seeing more populated games after the June patch, not just because more players might come out but because of performance issues. I'm on the 360 and I've had some lag issues, but they're getting better. I suspect that when the lag issues get smoothed over we'll see more players.

I can assure you guys it's not your connections; I'm on PS3 and have on average 30-60Kbps UL/DL w/ 200+ ms ping, 33ms jitter and unmeasurable packet loss... and I've played Co-Op with 5 other people or Versus with 7, with a US host, with no visible lag at all.

I was playing off-peak-time last night, what I assume to have been 4-6am US, but every single Public Standard Freeplay Versus I joined had a few people in it. They were either lagging for me (which isn't surprising considering my connection) or just imbalanced and I was getting stomped, so I found a game with one other person, played a few matches with them, and by the end of it about 5 other people had joined... and still none of this insane lag I get from CoD4 or Borderlands.

It is quite encouraging to hear about the non-lag from PS3 players -- that provides me with greater hope that SP will get things all cleared up with the 360 as well.

There's still a lot of lag in freeplay matches on ps3. It's gotten a little better. Campaign games online are almost lag free for me at this point.

On PS3 console I've been playing Freeplay, public in the Objective game mode on any map with.... Match setting on ADVANCED or BIG TEAMS to play against bots or human players, Rank Availability on my rank or higher. I've found this to be the most balanced between my characters and the bots as far as damage is concerned. When i shoot them they seem to take damage thats equal to the damage i recieve when being shot, depending on circumstances of course because a team can be much stronger if they have command post upgrades, weapon buffs etc etc which can make it a lot more difficult to bring the enemy down. Old Skool and competition match setting have no bots as most would know by now.
