Where do you want to see the next Fallout take place?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:43 am

San Francisco

Boneyard (L.A.) - yeah I know it was in the original Fallout, but that was over a decade ago. I think it should be redone to take advantage of the new technology, like how GTAIV redid the same city as GTAIII & the original GTA.

New York

Chicago

A city in China (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing)

I'm not well versed on the whole Fallout Universe, but from what I understand SF is controlled by Chinese descendants with little NCR influence. Boneyard is part of the NCR so it may be devoid of the anarchy we're used to and might be a somewhat civilized area in a post-apocalyptic sense.

I'm also not sure what the state of affairs are in Chicago or NYC. And I know China was also destroyed like the US. But at the same time I think the series should be kept in the US for the time being.

Bethesda already pissed a lot of fans off, remaking LA would piss even more people off, and Chicago was already in Tactics was it not? though I can totally see New York as the setting of Fallout 4.

so much so that I made a very green concept art of what Bethesda would do with it if it did take place in NY

That concept art is very cool! That looks like looking north from Midtown Manhattan?

Central Park would make for a very interesting section. Would it be a settlement of small towns? A no-man's land of mutants? A military base?

Wow! That's brilliant! And I like the name, "The Rotten Apple". It has such a cool mean ring to it.

Awesome concept art! :) Do more of it! We demand it

I'd like to have a game, not set in, but including, Denver. Also known as Dog Town. Imagine climbing the roof tops of houses, over rope bridges and all that, below there is a light fog so you only can make out the shapes of the streets below with the wrecked cars and feral dogs everywhere. You constantly hear echoes of barking, growling, whimpering and whatever sounds dogs make. The town is mostly populated by, except thousands of dogs, scavengers. Caesar's Legion also come here to get their dogs. It was to be in Van Buren. I guess that because it's pretty much deep in Legion territory, we can rule out the NCR presence here. But I'd imagine it be a were cool and creepy place, especially if they get the atmosphere and ambient sound right. It'd be like a zombie movie, except with bloodthirsty dogs rather than bloodthirsty human corpses.

Edit: Also, there's a thread for this already, the Official Fallout 4 Location Suggestion thread.

It should take place middle of nowhere. I'm sick of seeing people living in the ruins of the old world. Build your own cities, jeez.

Oh come one, that is what all Fallouts do. People living in the ghost of the old world. If you encounter a town with buildings most intact, sturdy walls with roofs over the head and maybe even electricity, then that beats building your own houses from scratch? Even though there are many settlements like this in the Fallout series, like you've mentioned, Shady Sands. And there is Megaton in Fallout 3, although it's built from scrap all around the wasteland.

Well, yeah. But they should go back to the world map they had in the originals. I just don't like the whole game to take place in some ruined city.

There were too many references to the Commonwealth in Fallout 3 and Point Lookout to assume that the next game will take place anywhere else.

Commonwealth sounds a great idea too. Too many references in FO3 makes me wonder what is like down there. And we'll most likely be seeing Dr. Li again if the games takes place over there.

Down? You mean up, considering the Commonwealth is pretty much north of every location we've ever played in in the Fallout series :P Unless you mean "down" from where you are located in the world.

Sorry, I'm such an ass :( just had to nitpick

Chicago for a Midwest BOS v.s. the last of the Enclave showdown.
New york City, this one's a maby for me as it is very overused but because there is a new storyline going on on the East Coast now and it has to go somewhere away from DC and NYC has to be used eventually, soooooo....
California, lots of things could be going on in the area right now. A revolution against the NCR, and (crosses fingers) the MW BOS could link up with the origional BOS. I really hope they do this soon.
The southeast, like Georgia or maby Florida. because it hasn't been done yet and it would be a great chance to introduce brand new factions to the series that could expand and meet with older factions.

Louisiana. Swamp country. Irradiated swamp monsters, including radgators (!!!). Tie-ins with old blues and jazz. Voodoo lore. Creole-speaking ghouls, anyone? I think it has the possibility to be something amazing.
