Where do you want TESV?

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 2:41 pm

They are just too... i don't really know, unreal? imaginary? dreamlike?

You mean like...Vvardenfell?

The Shivering Isles seemed basically like a back-track into Vvardenfell (Mushrooms, Dementia being the ashlands, Mania being the greener parts). There isn't too much of a difference besides the insane people. (Which were still great).

I think a good compromise would be a game that starts out in a daedric realm, and gives the option to go to tamriel later on as part of the story (And becomeing available as new explorable lands.

absolutely do not set the next game in a daedric realm.

the idea is each TES game covering a province, eventually we get the whole continent in a game :D

I would literally stamp on a puppy until it bled from the ears for TES:tamriel.

Moonshadow would be impractical since it's supposed to disrupt your vision which is quite annoying. Hammerfell has deserts, right? I love desert settings so I wouldn't mind an ES game there.

I would prefer Elsweyr for a desert setting. While Hammerfell is awesome, personally, I'd prefer to see new provinces, before we get back around to redoing them all again.

But I agree with you. Daedric realms should not be the focus of the game. Though, I can't say I wouldn't enjoy going to Moonshadow, and having Azura be revealed for what she truely is. Get rid of the dumb Azura love. :swear:

As a big Argonian player, definitely the Black Marsh. While technically mine was born in Morrowind, I'd still love to explore his heritage.

Provinces? Up to 3, maximum, would be nice.
One at a time....? most of us here will be dead before they release one game per province.

I really look forward to a game taking place in Black Marsh, so I voted it. However I'd be happy with a game in any province, so long as it's 1 province. I really think the focus is important to making an interesting game.

Well, that really depends on whether Bethesda start prioritising the development of any other games, like they did with Fallout 3, again.

Hopefully, Bethesda will focus on thier benchmark series, and we'll have nothing to worry about. 2-3 years per game? Not too hard to follow, and we'll probably see each province at least once. Only 5 provinces not covered (apart from Arena). 6 if you count mainland Morrowind.

I feel we can only really get the attention to detail I want if we stick to one province. Morrowind only took place in a small area of the province of Morrowind. As did Daggerfall in respect to High Rock.

Daggerfall... attention to detail?
Morrowind's Vvardenfell is a lot smaller than Daggerfall's areas in Hammerfell and High Rock.
But I agree with the smaller area - more detail point

Whichever province they do use for TesV I just hope it's a small portion of it. Where they could just focus the game around one city, and the land around it. It's painful to see Cyrodiil represented as it is in Oblivion.

That aside I hope TesV takes place in Skyrim. The Nord's seem to have a very alien culture which would add a nice atmosphere to the game.

Daggerfall... attention to detail?

Maybe that wasn't the best example.

But remember that Morrowind, eh? Great game!

definately. i always thought Morrowind was larger than Oblivion, but apparently it's not.
i guess it comes down to how they use the area. i'm all up for Skyrim or Summerset Ilse or whatever, as long as detail and atmosphere are the main focus.

Heres what I think on each region (not including Cyrodiil)

Morrowind: The game I think did a good job on the environment, but I'm not interested in more ashlands. Also, Dark Elves really annoy me.

Hammerfell: I like Redguards, they would make an interesting culture, and I really like the idea of being in a place that used to be inhabited by dwarves (see my name) or dwemer, whichever u like. Previous games didn't have good enough graphics to do them justice, but if you can fit their ruins/culture in any province, I'll be content.

High Rock: I feel like it will be too similar to Cyrodiil.

Summerset Isles: I don't really like High Elves too much, but their architecture could be very interesting. Still I agree with a previous post saying it should be in a later Elder Scrolls (6 or even 7) so the graphics will be stunning.

Valenwood: First off, I might like this so my Bosmer won't feel short. Their culture would also be very interesting. Maybe dungeons built inside the roots of trees or possibly in them? Also, it has extreme potential for some new monsters.

Elsweyr: I would really like a game set in a province inhabited by beast-men. And I'd prefer Elsweyr to the Black Marsh. The jungles and grasslands have extreme potential. Also, Khajiits are pretty cool.

Black Marsh: I love Argonians, but I'd hate the Black Marsh. Plus, the diseases are supposed to be deadly to any non-Argonians. And the swamps would sort of svck.

Skyrim: This is where I want the next game to take place. I like Nord culture, and Skyrim could be a vastly expansive place. It would be cool to find hidden villages in the mountains that might save your life. Also, maybe a bar that when it runs out, you start losing health from frostbite, pneumonia etc. You can refill it by building a fire, going near one, or entering a warm building. However, it would also draw enemies to you. For the people who dont like that, they could just toggle it off.

I thought I should add that I'd like more above ground stuff, and less underground dungeons. It would be more cool to sweep through a bandit camp then to kill them in a cave. Also, the dungeons are extremely repetitive.

I actually think that they should only make a small part of a province. Like in Oblivion they should have focused on the Imperial city and it's surrondings instead of minimizing the image of Tamriel by making the biggest province tiny.

Also I don't really understand why so many believe that Summerset Isle would be anything special. I see a lot of posts made by people claiming that Summerset wouldn't be done justice with the current technology. Now why is that?

Because the lore describing the architecture and province itself makes it sound really hard to do properly with current gen tech. "Freaking amazing" is an understatement. Go to the Imperial Library and read up on the descriptions of it.
