Where do you want TESV?

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:46 pm

I just want a different type of scenery from Cyrodiil; something different from plain old timber forests everywhere, but don't get me wrong, it was a gorgeous landscape.

P.S.

Where did all of these talks come from that TESV will be in either Summerset Isles or Skyrim?

I don't think there's any speculation about Summerset (that was Oblivion's speculation, I believe), but Skyrim is highly speculated. Check out the speculation thread.

Basically, Bethesda have trademarked the name "Skyrim".

The province I would like to see the most is Summerset Isle but since Skyrim has been trademarked twice already by Bethesda that's fine by me. I also think that it is best to focus on one province only in any given game.

You know, I'd really like to see Orsinium. Especially in light of the "I hate Orcs because they aren't like the ones in LotR" thread. It'd be interesting to see what an Orc city-state would look like. But for the entire province, Valenwood would be cool if Bosmer were less gimmicky. Especially the giant walking tree city (forget if there's a name for it). Maybe a Valenwood/Elseweyr combo. I'm sure there has to be conflict there now that the Empire isn't around to keep Bosmer and Khajiit from annihilating each other.

I'd rather wait for technology to catch up to Summerset Isle. I don't think anything Bethesda could do today would give it justice.

I would like to see it in either High Rock or Skyrim.

Oblivion was set in a scale version of Cyrodill, and Morrowind was set in a scale version of Vvardenfell. If they could make a 1:1 province it would be massive, thats what I would love to see. But to be honest I would simple like to see a 1:1 map, even if it’s the size of Oblivions map, with just one small corner of a province. Making the map 1:1 to the actual scale of Tamriel would make cities of true proportion, which would be a lot of fun.

I'd love to see a fully detailed Summerset Isle. It sounds like a nice place to mess around in.

And I voted for 1 province, just because I'd like the game designers to put as much detailed into each province as the current tech allows.

I'd like Skyrim, Elsweyr (spelt wrong probably) or Argonia.

Yes, I know Argonia would be incredibly hard to pull off. I don't think they could manage the jungle and marshes properly. Same with the Khajiit homeland.

Summerset Isle would be nice to see too.

I would like to see it in Valenwood, maybe with Black Marsh and/or Elsweyr.

I am skeptical as to whether or not current technology could pull off Summerset Isles off well enough.

Why? Because of the shiny buildings?

Just have a text box that says:

This building is very shiny, FYI.

I think Skyrim would be just as fine as any other place really, it's just up to the devs to make it interesting. Each province has something really cool to offer if they are done right.

I don't know why people stick to this 1 province per game deal though. I mean Oblivion was the only one that did it, wasn't it? I sometimes think that's kind of boring, I'd like to see something like Daggerfalls way, or even Morrowinds. Just focusing on a specific region in the province, that way it wouldn't feel as bland, the scale could be much bigger and make more sense, and modders could fill in the rest of the province if they wanted to.

Don't really know enough about textures and programming, to be honest.

I'm just hoping for sommerset because I want more sea and ships in TESV. Could be done in Skyrim if they want, but it would be a must if it was an island.

Skyrim

I'd rather have one done well. It wouldn't make sense to have more than one and not the rest

skyrim would svck.

imagine a whole elder scrolls game set in the jerall mountains.. NO THANKS.

A combination of black marsh and elsweyr with maybe valenwood as the expansion.

Then we would have some variation in terrain which imo make or breaks these open world RPG's. (another nod against skyrim I might add)

If only one then Black Marsh... I want gritty not pretty.

Since when was Skyrim all snow? FYI Only the south is cold and snowy... Due to mountains.
Oh no, not Black Marsh!
Imagine a whole elder scrolls game set in a swamp.. NO THANKS.

See how silly what you said was?

Still, Black Marsh, Elsweyr and Valenwood would be great.

Skyrim. The political climate there is awesome. I want to see the Bard's College, the greybeards, and the tongues as well.

i voted for sykrim dont really have any real preference which providence for the next game...i do prefer more realistic land mass size....meaning if they going to do the whole providence then make the game bigger than just 16 sq. miles...

I must stick to my guns and say Blackmarsh, even though I accept that it's probably never going to happen. A man can dream!

I'd really prefer it if the game stuck to one province at a time. Too many locations, and a game loses focus.

Arena is all of Tamriel. Daggerfall is in the Illiac Bay, which consists of part of High Rock and Hammerfell. Morrowind is on the island of Vvardenfell, a region of Morrowind.
The reason that people would like to see one province is because the game can be made with greater depth and detail. Arena and Daggerfall were huge, but boring since it was all computer generated and bland. Sometimes bigger isn't better.
And in my personal opinion, since the world is much larger than portrayed in game, more than a single province would make the world seem small.

Elsweyr! one province, same reason as OP. It's not gonna be Elsweyr, but you said not to take skyrim speculation into account.
