Only the player can finish her forever. Mobs, traps, and anything besides the player just brings her to her knees. But the player can easily one-shot her when she's like that, killing her. Even with Unrelenting Force, I think.

So, lots of people kill her inadvertently.

Not true. Not true at ALL.

Lydia was killed by a Dragon execution move in my game and she wasn't even on her knees. She just got the living [censored] chewed out of her and tossed to the side like a stale bag of chips.

It was at that moment that I realized followers were not immortal. Since her, I have gone through 4 other companions who have died entirely from mobs. Brenor is the only one I've gotten that feels immortal; though he did die a few times (though I reloaded) while doing the investigation portion of the Markarth/Forsworn quest in the Treasury.

She died outside riften awhile back :(

I just recently spawned her with the console though so she's now sitting in my house with Hroki. Wonder what fun things they do while I'm out

My Lydia died whilst we were questing for a particular amulet and three boss mobs made things get messy.

After boning up my first attempt at marrying my beloved, I dragged her corpse into the temple basemant. After successfully getting hitched, I told my spouse to haul [censored] to Breezehome. And guess who was waiting there to welcome us to our life off marital bliss?
That's right. Dead Lydia.

She is currently stripped and lying in a compromising position on the bed in my spare room. Just a backup for when the missus has a headache.

That's what I call a Real Doll.

Well... she stepped on a trap that forced a large door to slam into me and nearly kill me, so I killed her out of frustration, trapped her soul, reanimated her corpse, and killed her again. I now travel with an argonian named Derkeethus.
Edit: THis was on my evil character. On my neutral character, she died honorably during a fight with a giant.

Mine stays inside Breezehome because I never take her outside for a run or any kind of exercise.

She was violently torn apart by falmer while we were in Alftand, trying to get

an elder scroll

It was my first time taking her out with me, and she died pretty early in the ruins. It was pretty sad. Mostly because I had to leave behind 6 dragon bones she was carrying for me.

Ya me to, or in that Silent Catacombs place. I took a turn to explore a dead end, and when i came back she was dead with 3 Falmer around her...

I went Anakin Skywalker and their ass.

Loaded up with fancy armor, protection amulet and ring, a soul trap warhammer, a bunch of empty soul gems, healing potions, etc...and trotting along behind me.

I just reload a save if she dies (usually when I hit her with an arrow on accident in the heat of battle).

Well, she was sitting in my house, watching me while I slept..

But, I finally put her to work and sacrificed her to that Boethia chick...

She's...wherever it is she was when they first swore her to me. I just ignored her dialogue and left :whistling:

I got rid of her in a most ungracious way since I hate companions hanging around my only house that I can't send packing when I'm through with them. She was like some clueless relative who doesn't know they've overstayed their welcome. You "should" be able to send her back to the keep, especially when your character marries someone else.

Generally behind me, hauling/guarding my things while I scout ahead, or fighting with me tossing atronachs and healing spells between enchanted sword whirls and destruction magic.

At the moment however, she's looking for something for the burns after I tossed a steel axe on a trap trigger and had her stand in the inferno it caused for like 15 minutes while I leveled my restoration!

Always a test of healing prowess, when you can out-heal the damage taken by standing in fire! XD

Never even took her out of the place she starts. She'd just cramp my style, what with her heavy armor and low intelligence getting in the way of my sneaking.
