In what alliance should we play and why?
If you like zergs, play with the Dominion. If you like being the underdogs and being outnumbered, play with the Covenant. If you like "i'm just going to go to Cyrodil and follow the crowd, but I really don't know what I'm doing", then go with the Pact.
I dont know about the other factions, but there is what appears to be a bdsn dungeon in EP's Davon Watch Inn. If you're into that sort of thing.
That is what people felt in stress test, but it is hard to say how things will turn up at launch. The two may or not be vastly different in two weeks.
All i know is that the herd will be rolling AD. They will likely be the most obnoxious faction.
Reason to choose AD: All 3 races of which lands have never previously appeared in a TES title.
I chose AD for the beta because I like playing a sorcerer and the Altmer made sense as the race to choose, plus I wanted to see Summerset Isle. I'll most likely chose them when I do my first character because of this as well. AD does seem to be popular though, my campaign this past beta was able to capture 2 other scrolls and most of the DC keeps, a lot of fun. I do plan on playing the other two as well.
This. Though I believe we can probably safely bet that both AD with its elves and EP with its Nords (the new belfs ) will be the two largest factions. Which will be the largest, and how many with each, only time will tell.
You think the elves are the only ones "mature" and intelligent enough to run the world, pick Aldmeri Dominion.
You want free trade for everywhere so business can run the world, pick Daggerfall Covenant.
You want your own land/country free from other groups' influence, pick Ebonheart Pact.
If you or your brothers like kate beckinsale, play dominion ! for the queen !
While each faction devotee will have their bias, I think the general consensus can be summed up in the following:
AD will be the most populated for various reasons. This means there will be a lot more zerging. They do, however, have a larger number of elite guilds due to racial benefits and more favorable low level zones. But the faction is comprised of effete snob elves, cannibals and furries.
EP will have the larger population of players who joined due to play experience with Skyrim (and to a lesser extent Morrowind) as well as having Teh Dark Elvez (go Drizzt!). You'll see a lot more vampires in this faction, due to Teh Dark Elvez. Go here if you think you're smarter than the average bear and want to be the giants in the playground. Just bear in mind that most everyone else will be thinking the same.
DC will have the smaller population, being largely the leftovers, fantasy traditionalists (medieval historic feel), and people who want to play the underdog. In terms of racial abilities, they're middle of the road - not as attractive to minmaxers as AD, but better than EP. It also seems to be the buggiest of the three factions. How long that will last, we don't know.
How much of these perceptions is actual truth, or will bear out at launch is completely up in the air.
During stress tests, AD was more often than not the dominant faction in PvP. DC occasionally. EP less often. Naturally, this varied from campaign to campaign.
Zerging will always be present in some capacity, especially if one contingent is significantly larger. Once the game is released, and the play money and AP go away and folks are spending their own earned stuff, this will change. During betas, folks tend to blitzkrieg much more than they would when it is "for real", if you understand what I mean.
It's fun to get a group of 3-4 DC players together to stealth up and wait for the zerg train of AD to storm through, then when the stragglers in the back try to catch up, bam....lots of dead AD. =)
I love being the underdog and always outnumbered as DC.
Hehehe, lots of dead DC? Your ambush didnt go well I take it.
Here are some nice number break down, though not nearly the 5 million people who signed up it clearly seems to represent averages i've seen of other polls.

The last two betas i find that the DC always seem to be the least played in regards to PvP. So join them and help us claim Cyrodiil.
Depends on the campaign honestly but for this last past w/e I agree but for the one before this, in my campaign, that was not true. In that campaign (Chrysamere) during the Feb 28th beta DC nearly took all of the AD keeps because of a lack of strategy by some of the AD groups.
I myself was covenant in beta, i did try pact twice but each time i was met with harsh words from the community there so will not go back. Dominion is not for me I dont know why i just dont like them.
About covenant i think i liked the fact i got to visit Stros M'kai and i enjoy being redguard... The community is very helpful and didnt receive the responses i did from pact. Although sometimes you did get the random troll. This is my personal opinion on the beta testing. on release it could be totally opposite.
I was leaning toward DC because of Orc's but AD is going to be my choice...maybe. I like the island feel and the NPC's/storyline seem awesome. I can't make up my mind as of yet!
I was undecided as well, besides playing as a woodelf, 'till I learned that the capital of the Aldmeri dominion ([censored] high elves btw ) is in Valenwood. The story does factor in the general hatred for the snotty Altmer; I can endure.
I'm undecided on this one too (speaking purely from a PvE POV as I don't anticipate spending enough time in PvP for that to affect my decision). My main will be a Bosmer so technically I should play AD, but I feel more sympathetic to DC... trouble is, their early-level quests seem to be by far the most boring. The little I played of EP (got as far as the Argonian island after Bleakrock, forgot what it was called) was by far the most fun area I experienced in the beta, so that's making me think I should go with them...
You know. I played AD because they were the faction with cat people, so whichever faction would have those I would have gone with.
Now that you can pick whatever race to whatever faction (or be an imperial, i guess)...I stayed because of the landscape.
A part of me is ultra curious what the other landscapes are like, but the Elven architecture, and the green and sunlight and everything had me all dazzled and stuff because of ultra graphics quality.
I have no idea what the other lands are like, but when I played Morrowind it seemed 90% of it was black ash and like barren nothingness with gray hills so that's kinda nasty.
I imagine the other place is like icy mountains.
These are my limited experience and imagination based on the races within those factions, i have no idea what their lands are like.
But oh my the elf lands are so pretty.
