Which balance/overhaul mods compatible with Oblivion + KOTN

Post » Mon Sep 12, 2011 2:21 am

Hello everyone,

Title says it all. I've played Oblivion many times but never finished it.

I've picked up KOTN + SI. And now I'd like to wipe everything, reinstall and start a fresh new character, to play the whole story of Oblivion before Skyrim is released.

Considering I've had many playthroughs that I stopped playing because I was using a lot of mods, and suddenly mod X interacted with mod Y and screwed up my stats/spells etc... I'd like to keep my mod count down.

But I just can't stand the levelling of the enemies/quests/rewards and some of the levelling mechanics of your own character.

So I was wondering if you guys could maybe suggest me some overhaul mods that would rebalance Oblivion + SI + KOTN and maybe add some content ? (as I've restarted my characters quite often, there are some quests that I ve just grown tired of ^^)

(so far I've used OOO 90% of the time, in combination with races/magic rebalance mods like LAME. However OOO isn't SI/KOTN ready)

Right now, my mod list is pretty empty, except for Qarl Texture pack redimized

Thanks in advance for your help

It is very much a matter of taste. I can almost guarantee that my own taste in overhauls does not match yours. So... whatever sounds good to you! Try them and see, I suppose.

Well, OMOBS is "SI-ready", if that helps. And KotN (its relevant items, anyway) can easily be adjusted in the same way. If, however, you want a (more or less) comparable overhaul for SI, there is also "ZUSIO" -> http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34245

And yes, Fran's and/or MMM have SI options available. And a Knights option, in the case of MMM (and, naturally, a MMM+OOO setup). As does, therefore, FCOM (an overhaul consisting of multiple overhauls, essentially).

Right now, my mod list is pretty empty, except for Qarl Texture pack redimized

And, incidentally, if you want the SI equivalent to that, you would be looking at Bomret's Texture Pack for Shivering Isles -> http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28378

Oh, since I forgot to mention it, regarding character leveling? There are many options. I would suggest investigating (i.e., searching for and reading about) Realistic Leveling or nGCD (either one with Progress), or alternatively, Oblivion XP by itself.

edit: If you are looking for particular kinds of mods, try the Mod Detectives thread (it should be found within the first few pages or so).

Be aware that while ZUSIO sounds fantastic, previous discussion on this board has indicated that the current version available from the Nexus contains game-breaking bugs which only show up later into the SI questline. A couple of people were apparently working on the fixed version, but it's been a while since they posted about it.
