I realize you're looking for a list of all the "skill" books, right?

That way you won't have to spend time reading books. Don't know if such a list exists yet. Hope it doesn't.

First, for gameplay, read any book that costs more than 50 Gold. Those are skill books and you will learn a skill if you have not read the book before.

As for Lore, I hate to say it, but most of them have some Lore in them, and the titles are pretty easy to figure out which ones are more Lore than others. However, there is a reference for all the books in this game and previous games

So, you can catch up on your lore there. Note, the Skyrim specific books may not be up yet.

This is the best idea. If they're expensive, read them. Everything has lore in too, though. I remember when I first started and reading some book I thought were important, and ended up getting a good laugh out of because they're funny. And that made them just as important.

Actually, no. I'm trying to level fairly slowly, so I don't necessarily want skill books. I'm most interested in the books that contain the most entertaining and informative lore.

Not a book, but a journal, Kodlak's journal (if you're doing Companions Quest).. This book made me feel so immersed in the game, as if I'm really part of it.

It takes time to pick up the lore. I've been playing for a long time and haven't read them all or absorbed them completely. I just found a new one to me at a site north of Winterhold College that is simiilar to Genesis and talks about how the world of Tamriel was created and by whom. It's a lot to remember but it happens over time. Some books are placed in the game that makes it obvious "read this, it's important to the story" and that's how I'd describe that one I just found. I also take a few books at a time back to my home for later reading. I keep them in the nightstand next to the bed.

Two of my more recent finds were 'three thieves' and 'an hypothetical betrayal'. Both clever little stories. I'd advice to open everything you find and decide if you want to finish it off after flicking through the pages a bit. Just like you would a real life book.
