Which companion(s) do you usually drag along?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:33 am

For me, it's Julan and Constance. They just seem a good all-around combination. But I'm interested to hear what other companions people are using.

I usually don't use companion mods, but I tried Constance some time ago and found it very enjoyable. ^_^

By the way, is there a companion mod for a..wolf or some kind of animal?

Slave Warrior Jessica is the companion I have used most often. After that, Constance. After that, companions I've made myself.

I am using Julan because the quests are one of the best of all companion mods.

I've I've finally tried my first companion after years of playing. It was Westly's Dremora companion.

Sadly I must say I leave her at home now. I would tell her to use Melee to fight, but she would seldom fight at all and if she did she would use a lightning spell that would fry me (she killed me twice). So now she stays at home.

Do other companion mods have this problem? It seems that instead of being a help they are a problem.

All companion mods are different in terms of fighting commands and magic use. Certainly a reason I didn't give Julan targetted/area effect spells was to avoid the fry-the-player issue, and many other companions also have their magicka set up to be useful rather than a hindrance. Others might have a command to turn off magic use entirely, or are melee-only companions. So, it varies, you have to read the readme or ask questions, or just try 'em out!

edit - it sounds like you had some sort of problem with Gatanas, as if you told her to avoid magic, then I assume she should have done so. But I don't know why it didn't work, it should.

Abigail's Petshop has many animal companions ranging from a lowly baby chick, to a dragon(yes, wolves, bears, dogs are also there). It has a few quirks, most notably spelling errors, but if you can overlook those, its a pretty decent mod.

Anyways, for me, I just create custom CM Partner from a custom race.

Along with a pack-donkey, wolf, fox, Emma's cats and a horse, Julan and Constance are permanent residents in my game. Without those two Morrowind would be a far more dreary place. :)

Julan.

If I ever manage to finish my personal-use mod, I'll probably drag my companion from that along quite a bit, as well.

I also wanted to find a Carbuncle (from Final Fantasy) mesh/animation/etc all done so I could just script it as a simple pet companion, but it seems no one has ever done one. :<

I just use Julan - I heard so much about how he was awesome, so I went and downloaded him despite my worries that a companion would unbalance the game. So far I haven't regretted a thing, especially since I installed Creatures... I really appreciate his help with some of them.

Julan definitely. Very helpful to have around yet he's nicely balanced and not uber. Great conversation and quests with him. I hope that someday someone will make a wizard companion with Julan's level of depth and conversation.

Cally, Beryl, Laura occasionally and Constance. I have tried many others. If you like interesting, dialogue intensive companions, I particularly recommend Vorwoda's companion mods (on Emma's site) and Neko's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2302, just outside Caldera.

I want to try Wildman's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4102, Sennenki's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1265 and Jac's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6855 as well as Neo-Daigo's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4695. The latter should be particularly interesting because of her Initiative - "...her ability to target incoming foes, creatures and NPCs included, before they reach the player...."

Usually Julan, but sometimes also a guar from Abot's Guar mod :P

I have yet to try Jac's Jasmine Companion, which I will do soon.

I use Julan and Constance too. I've only tried the Julan Romance option once and didn't care much for it. I suggested to Kateri the idea of the PC matchmaking for Julan and Shani but she didn't like the idea. Oh well...
Julan's pithy commentaries (especially his thumbnail book reviews) and his loyalty, in spite of his mood swings make him a joy to have around.
I've used Constance a half-dozen times and she still can surprise me. The last time I used her she gave a passionate anti-slavery speech I never saw before. I didn't think she had a political pixel in her body.
Before I started using companion mods my chars tended to feel depressed after finishing the MW and Tribunal Main Quests (but that's another story.) Companions add friendship and support that you don't find enough of in the Morrowind world.
I'm trying to use Jasmine but I keep getting so many glitches that I'm totally frustrated.

Ah, now... I don't think that's quite what I said, is it? I don't remember exactly, but I probably said something to the effect that if Julan and Shani got back together, it wouldn't end well. Which is not quite the same thing. I daresay it's be fun to write! ;)

And thanks to everyone who said nice things about Julan! My personal recommendations would be Emma's Constance and Laura, and Qarl's Synda and Johnny.

I usually don't use companions. I do use a bunch of companion mods though, which I admittedly haven't actually used much when all is said and done.

I'll have to give Synda and Johnny a look. I am not familiar with them. I've used Laura in the past, though, but became frustrated with her. She was too high maintenance, much like a real woman.

Does anyone know if there are any mage/wizard companions that have distinct personalities? I'm looking for deeper characters than, say, Kendra or Gabrial. I know I can make Julan into a mage if I want to, but I'm looking for characters who are already classified as mage/wizard when I pick them up.

I generally use a very customized version of the Drow Companion from 'A Drow Story'. (Switch to a BB drow race for a start).

You might like Emma's http://lovkullen.net/Emma/witchgirl.htm She has nearly as much personality as Constance (though, from what I hear, not quite as much as Julan)(but then, from what I hear, many real-life people don't have as much personality as Julan)(I'm not naming any names).
