Which console should I get it for?

Get it on the Xbox. PS3 will have serious issues. The PS3 version of Oblivion had a vampirism bug they never patched. So yeah, Xbox.

The PS3 will run faster, be able to hold more data, and will probably have a few extra perks. But because of [censored] Bill Gates it may have more bugs than the much slower Xbox version.

On the different ratings, is it possible that the supposedly better online service on Xbox would sway critics in a subtle way accounting for the variation on metascores? :P

It usally has nothing do with that. I like in Fallout 3 the graphics were slightly worse. Other games I hear things like the PS3 version looks a bit washed out compared the the 360, its normally only minor things, but if you have both systems might as go for the better version.

At the moment the PS3 is much better than the Xbox but... PC has mods.

Sony pissed off a group of hackers so they busted open their machine. When Sony got back at the hacker responsible for publishing how to hack into the console some other hacker got pissed and took it out on their data base.

My condolences to anyone who got burned by this.

My suggestion is to pick your favorite or wait a couple of weeks and see which console has the better reviews. Of course Mr. Howard said that the plan is to make the game the same for all platforms.

oh i know why it happened.. i was just saying how despicable it was to make everyone else suffer who was not involved. I mean.. it is despicable in the first place but to do this to the whole gaming community is crap.

I'm pretty sure the washed-out complaints are just false, though. If one doesn't turn on the full color range setting on the PS3 (which is, by default, off), it might appear washed-out, but otherwise, not really.

Whoa, I've had my PS3 for 15 months and did not know about that setting. Thanks!

As long as you have an HDTV, that setting option should work fine.

Yea I have an HDTV, but I've never thought any game looked "washed out". This setting should really impress me then.

Will do. I'm waiting for this PSN fiasco to settle down before I go back on.

You don't need to be connected to the PSN to do it. You don't even need an internet connection. It's completely offline... built right into the console.

True, but I just haven't been on my PS3 since all this happened last week.

Agree that XBox360 is probably the way to go if you're going for the DLC end of things. If you're concerned about graphic quality, I'm partial to PS3, but they typically get the dirty end of the stick on everything else. I'll actually play it on PC, though (it's all about the mods).

I speaking of what I read in the reviews, I would assume places like IGN and Gamespot would know of these things. And over and over again I read thing in reviews that tilt slightly towards 360, I assume its because of the ease of programming. Perhaps this is finally becoming less of an issue because game dev have gotten use to it, idk. Either way dumb move by Sony. Late release and complex programming, let Microsoft take the lead in this console generation(at least in the U.S). At least thats what it looks like to me, I don't follow either too closer as I am a pc gamer.

It doesn't really matter the graphical differences are so small it not worth bothering with, the xbox might be more stable as the game is being developed on it but the stability differences will most likely also be minute so I'd say just get it for which ever consoles controls you prefer im going to be playing on ps3 because I don't have an xbox or a capable pc but whicher ever you choose the game will be awesome

They said in the podcast it was being developed on PC.

Depends if they take the time to code the ps3 version properly instead of taking the easy way out. If they do it properly, the ps3 version will have the edge, if not, the xbox version will.

360, Because most of the testing of the game is done by the devs on 360

Xbox 360 tends to lose your credit card information after Live is down for a week less often.

Xbox live is hardly ever down,it's a very good service. The longest time it's ever down is for 8-20 hours, and that's when the are up-dating things/making changes. Other than that,it's hardly ever down at all. It's a very good service.Yes we pay for it,but your talking less than a pound (£1) a month, microsoft do a good job with live.

Is there a source for that Todd Howard quote?

GI podcast. Todd specifically says: The graphics development starts with xbox. ( he then says )..Because it's smoother. So there is a source and from the horses mouth.
Also as kefka says: Multi-platform reviews do tend to favour the xbox, graphics are usually equal, but it's usually gameplay were xbox stands out more.

@ OP,get what your comfortable with,as long as you get to play skyrim you should be fine.

Note: I do not dislike sony fans at all,but i do not agree with sony in general. They cocked up the the PS3.They weren't as willing to give dev support as microsoft was. Also they seem good at pulling the wool over their fans eyes. Shame really, because competition is good from all platforms,it keeps companies on their toes.
Sorry if your a fan of sony, but i ain't,i don't like the way they opperate at times. This is not meant towards PS3 users, you can do what you like ,and i hope you enjoy it,but i'm just not a fan of sony and of how they've handled the PS3.They tried to be smartarsed with what it could do,without thinking of development etc....And it backfired, microsoft has the upper hand at the moment. I don't usually get involved with console war stuff anymore,i have nothing to prove,we like what we like ,but you can't defend bad decisions/direction from a big company.

For those that are sony fans, let's hope sony learn something for the next gen, rather than relying on the power/upper hand they once had.

xbox... so you can install the game onto it and greatly shorten the load times. I'm getting it for that console only so i can chat with my buds via team speak while we're playing the game so we can all drool together as the glorious wonders of the frozen land of Skyrim unfold right before our anxious and undeserving eyes...
i CANNOT WAIT :ahhh:

I have an PS3 and an Xbox360, I don't have a gaming PC so thats out of the question, which console should I get Skyrim for?

Does your PC run any recent console games? Then you'll have no problem running Skyrim - it's made for 360 too, and any pc within the last 5-6 years can run a 360 game. You'll be fine. Go with PC and get all the mods you need.

Indeed. Even if you can't run the game with ultra-high settings, it might still look better than on consoles... It has been confirmed that Skyrim will look better on PC.

I'd say go with 360 just for the DLC issues but saying that, I hope by then all gamers will be able to experiences DLC at the same time no matter what console they own... Exclusivity needs to go! :flame:
