I think the 360 and PS3 will probably run it about equally, maybe 360 a little better but I don't know.

PS3 should run it better. It has a better processor if I'm not entirely wrong.
But then again Todd seems to prefer Xbox360 so who knows...

Bethesda's said they're working to make the game look just as good on either console, but if I'm not mistaken the PS3 has a better processor and about twice as much RAM as the 360.... so don't see how the 360 could compare. guess I was wrong :) PhYoshi probably knows better than I do

I'm buying it for the PC anyway :) It ran Oblivion pretty smoothly, so it'll probably run Skyrim decently too.

No, both consoles have the tiny amount of 512mb RAM - the 360's in one 512MB lump and the PS3's in one higher speed 256mb lump and one slower speed 256mb lump.

The PS3 is stronger in some areas, weaker in others. Multiplatform games have tended to favour the 360 in the past, however.

PS3's have much better hardware than the 360, but if a game is multiplatform it is almost always biased towards 360 because they know it'll sell more for the 360. But if a game is actually designed very well to run on each platform and not ported, then PC's will always win.

I have a ps3 and although ps3 is stronger in parts, and xbox stronger in parts, Most developers do the coding for xbox then port it for ps3. I don't know if bethesda are the same?

It will probably be a bit more optimized for the 360 since it's architecture is more closely related to PC architecture. Though they have dealt with the PS3 multiple times now so they most likely have a better feel for the work flow. Overall I doubt either will really run a significant difference that you can tell without putting the two next to each other, and that's just not something you would do while playing so who cares.

I personally would get it for the 360 purely for the controller difference, the 360 controller feels more natural to me with a better layout. You can always just get a TV connector and play the PC version on your TV using wireless mouse and keyboard or if it can reach you can use the 360 wired controller.

No it has nothing to do with bias in sales, it's due to the architecture of the system. Games are built on PC's and tested on PC's first and foremost, with 360 architecture close to PC architecture there isn't as much that needs to be done to get it running.

why does this sound like a subtle attempt to start a console war?

just buy the damn game for every system!

they'll all run the same.

I played Oblivion on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and both ran great. However, the PS3 appeared to have less load/ lag times. I also didn't run into many glitches on the PS3. (I play mostly on the PS3)

It ought to run better on the PS3, but then like most multiplatform devs they'll probably screw it up and we'll end up with speedy load times but horrible, crippling bugs.

Still, at least I don't have to make a cup of tea every time I enter a building, right? :hehe:

I'd say that's more down to having the complete game out on the market for a significant amount of time, they could see what the major issues were and remedy them for the PS3 version. No version will have the luxury this time around.

I hope it runs smooth on all platforms :)
But todd did say the xbox was smoother, they start their graphics with xbox.
He wouldn't say or do this without reason.
But lets hope it's good for us all no matter

(_( carefully watches out for the oil pool on the group, while tossing the torch as far away from it as possibe )_)

They'll surely run it almost identically, the difference between that kind of stuff depends on how good programmers the bethesdas are, and from what we saw in ps3 version of Oblivion, they are good. the better bethesda are the better the ps3 version will run, because ps3 uses it's unique coding language.

Oblivion runs better on the ps3 so I'd say Skyrim will be the same.

It does, interesting as it was ported afterwards, might be that they didn't have the hurry they had for Oblivion.

What was the issue with Fallout 3 on PS3? had to google and it appears it looked somethat worse. however it's basically Oblivion with better grapic, effects and physic from a hardware point of view.

Yeah, this is usually the case and the reason Oblivion ran better on the PS3 is because they took extra time on it and made some enhancements. Fallout 3 apparently had some more issues on the PS3 but I played through it and besides the occasional freeze I did not have any real issue until I was over 100 hours on a single playthough.

Anyway, I will be running it on the PS3 for fear that the long hours of playtime will RROD my 360.

Fallout 3 performed a little better on 360, not sure bout New Vegas. But they've got a new engine and seems to be more ambitious than ever now.

Just this reason alone, is a reason to use the PS3 instead of the 360!

Just this reason alone, is a reason to use the PS3 instead of the 360!

Xbox users can just put it on the hard-drive.
It's also known the xbox GPU is very flexible and works well with its memory, thus why it's favoured in games development.
Essentially making the xbox smoother. The PS3 has a little more muscle, but it's often not used.
In all,they are extremely similar.
Also note: that while PS3 has blue-ray ( more space ) some games require you to install to hard drive,on PS3.
So in that regard it's no different to 360.
But i think both versions of the game will work fine.
