Well if you don't have Broken Steel, you should definitely get that one. Otherwise it would be Point Lookout.

I've only had operation anchorage but that gives the best new weapons and armour, t51-b winterized, chinese stealth suit, gauss rifle and imo a FANTASTIC playthrough, i've heard mothership zeta gives good stuff but its really short i think, either anchorage or point lookout, i was thinking same as you and got operation anchorage and i'm very happy with just that :)

But Broken Steel allows you to keep playing after the main quest is finished and adds a bunch of new quests. Plus it raises your level cap to 30 from 20. So as far as adding new content is concerned, that one is by far the best to get. Personally I found Operation Anchorage to be quite boring, it was nothing but a shoot-em-up with no real story behind it. You just run around and kill things with no interaction to anything except at the very beginning. I couldn't even be bothered to finish it, I went back to a previous save and skipped it.

Broken Steel is probably the most substantial in that it raises the level cap to 30, but be warned that in the process it horribly unbalances the game and introduces some really irritating bullet-sponge enemies. Point Lookout's a decent-ish size, it's easily the best of a pretty bad bunch of DLC imo.

Point Lookout is the best the area they give you to explore is huge. Broken steel only finishes the storyline, adds a bunch of weapons & a higher level cap.

Mothership Zeta is MUCH bigger than Operation Anchorage!
Point Lookout is probably the biggest, as it's an open world, very atmospheric and quite scary too.
The Pitt is entertaining, and very scary when you first get there, with virtually none of your weapons, armor etc.

Broken Steel because it removes the ending of the game.
Point Lookout is next because there's lots of exploration, side quests and you can come and go as you please. You can even live there if you want and just come back to the Capital Wasteland to visit.
Mothership Zeta takes several hours to complete your first trip through if you try to collect all of the collectibles but it's very linear and you must complete the DLC once you start it.
The Pitt is short but you can choose to fully complete one quest in the Steelyard which could take a couple extra hours.
Anchorage is the shortest at only 1 1/2 hours long. Many people finish it in an hour. It's a fun shootery experience with some nice loot but if I could only buy one DLC, this one would be toward the bottom of my list.

You have to get Broken Steel.

But in my opinion Point Lookout is the best DLC and lasts the longest.
It has an awesome area to explore cool new weapons, a bunch of quests and
new enemies, that are pretty tough too. :tops:

I agree. Broken Steel also opens up some areas of the wasteland for the main quests and adds a couple of side quests.

Point Lookout. That DLC can nearly be a game on it's own. It's brilliant.

1.) Broken Steel is necessary to raise the level cap and add tougher enemies. If you've already finished the game, this is necessary.
2.) Point Lookout is the best DLC by far. If you haven't finished Fallout 3 yet, you could ignore Broken Steel and get Point Lookout first.
3.) Operation Anchorage is very fun, and you can glitch some great stuff to keep. But it's very short and by-the-nose in execution.
4.) The Pitt has a great setting and atmosphere, but there is an overload of new weapons & armor, and not nearly enough quests.
5.) Mothership Zeta was kind of interesting, but ultimately all gloss and no substance. Frankly, it felt the same from beginning to end.

Broken Steel is a must, so your fo3 game wont come to an end, you can even play after you finish the final quest of BS dlc. After this i highly recommend PL, lots of side quests and bigger mapping and good atmosphere.

Out of those two, Point Lookout is by far the longer and larger DLC. It has a Main Quest, side quests and lots of little things to discover on your own.

The pitt uncovers a small history of fo3 with good significance to the main quest, but personally i will go to point lookout, the length of the quest itself, the wide range area of maps included, and the good atmosphere, but beware of tough enemies around it, that makes point lookout challenging. If you prefer a misty forest scenario its point lookout, but if you prefer the building by building genre its the pitt. I highly recommend point lookout.
