which dunmer replacer....

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 10:17 am

Which one makes their skin an "ashen" grayish color? Anyone know off the top of their head? I've been told there are 5+ replacers out there and I'd like to not have to hunt them all down and compare them. :x

Ashen is rather subjective however if you're looking for maximum compatibility in regards to skin hues for your face replacer, i would recommend PsychoDog Studio's Better Bodies. it seems to be, by far, the body replacer most commonly used.

Alienslof's makes them a bit dark ashen in color, but also paints muscles on them. Is that what you're talking about? And yeah, the skins that come with BB make them a bluish color.

Well like.. remember all my screenshots in the other thread, how the bodies are GREEN? This is the thing that came with MGSO. I had understood it was BB, but possibly just with a green texture by somebody other than Psychodog Studios. So I guess if I install the one that Sim linked it will be blue, which is better. It still might not match, but it will be better.

If you're wanting to match the bodies in MGSO it would appear that they are using "Capuccine & Westly's Extra High Resolution Female Textures for Better Bodies" It apparently includes an optional "Bluer" set. I'm not sure if MGSO used it or not, they could probably answer that for you in their thread.

Here's a link to the texture replacer.

And the current MGSO thread:

That's the thing. I don't want to match it. I made my own replacer based on feedback (http://i.imgur.com/QSbrE.jpg) from people, and I want it to match 'as closely' as possible. I'll check this out though. Thanks so much. :D

I must be confused. You have your own body replacer as well? I'm sorry, I had no idea. Well, whatever you've done there, it looks wonderful

No, I mean.. it's kind of unintentional. :/ I realized I had to recolor the skin to match the faces that people wanted. See, what happened was, when I posted the original face, people gave feedback like "Dunmer have ashen faces, make it more gray" and then when I posted a comparison, people said they wanted the almost completely gray one. But then the face contrasted starkly with the body, so you see my dilemma? I had to recolor the skin and include it in the face pack. I didn't really think that one through.

On another note.. You've been so wonderful and supportive throughout this process, I really can't thank you enough. You always have a kind word for an insecure first time modder. <3

When face and skin don't match I adjust it for myself. I don't really care about not-fitting-colours because i can change everything I want. So at least you don't have to think for me :D

I'd second this, myself, for your own sanity. Whichever you match the skin tone to, someone will complain that it doesn't match their particular replacer of chocie. Lots of headpacks have faces with a variation in skin tone and usually there's no problem; often, if you are using reasonably conceling armor or clothes, it really doesn't stand out if the skin and face aren't exactly the same. Better Bodies is standard enough that any face matched to it will be reasonably universal.

It's just as well. MGSO specifically didn't use Westly and Cappucine's body texture replacer (as stated in the credits list).

I agree with Lyssia and Symbelmyne. If people want custom ,let them customize for themselves. You should probably not let yourself get side-tracked trying to please everyone, Mel. It's a common pitfall among modders and usually burns them out.

Mmm.. I spent so many hours tweaking it and getting it perfect.. I can't really go back to those default greenish faces without a ton of extra work for what will inevitably be an inferior product. I'm going to stick with what I have, and people can use my skin or not. Nothing is forcing them to play the Dunmer heads anyway, there's plenty of other heads.

Actually, that's not quite right. If you look closely at the read me it has "Capuccine & Westly's Extra High Resolution Female Textures for Better Bodies" listed as being used, it's "Westly's Fit Better Bodies Textures" that are listed as not being used due to the creator's request. It seems unlikely however that Westly would not give permission for his other mods that are listed in the read me to be used and yet would allow a collaboration to be included, so who knows if they were actually included or not. It's all quite confusing

But Elaura said that they aren't used even though the readme says they are. So if you know http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/images/mods/6825/1219509821_fullres.jpg you can say if they are used or not.

And these are modder's resource due to Cappucine's will who begun to make them, they are not specifically Westly's work. That's why they can be used and his other works are not included.

If the MGSO wouldn't be so huge I would check it, I know the textures very well.

No, actually what Elaura said was:

It's just as well. MGSO specifically didn't use Westly and Cappucine's body texture replacer (as stated in the credits list).

I was pointing out that the readme was unclear as it has ""Capuccine & Westly's Extra High Resolution Female Textures for Better Bodies" listed as being used, while "Westly's Fit Better Bodies Textures" listed as being not used due to Westly's request.

Here's the readme if you'd like to see for yourself.

http://moautoupdate.net/guides/Modlist_Credits.pdf :read:

To clarify, I was trying to be as clear as possible clear in my answer to prevent anyone wasting time or effort due to working with thje wrong body texture.

It's all a moot point now anyway, as Meldiocre is finished with her excellent face replacer :)

Simbelmyne is right, I missed the "fit" part. :D I've modded over MGSO now, so I don't know which ones were original anymore. I can check it on a new install if the answer is still required.

I actually know the readme since I have to help all those poor german players who use the mgso on their german games and wonder why it is not working. I thought that Elaura recognized the textures as not being cappucine's and since I could not check it in the mgso directly I just believed her :P. I know that Kingpix sometimes misses things (that's no offence, he admitted this and we laughed about it).

Why nobody from the german community have translated MGSO in german yet, is really too bad?
Like the french community?
If you want I can share some resources/psd for it ^^

Since the french community know that a french version of MGSO is go to be released, there is numbers of new players and old ^^ which just wait the french release to play/replay Morrowind and a new breath to the modding is arrived (new french modders, translators, etc...).
So it would be a such great gift and new breath to the german community to have a german version of MGSO.

And you have already translated a lot of the mods includes in it, so the translation in german would be not so hard?

i think the german MW community is not that big. Aside from 24 translations in the last 12 month by me there had been 3 other releases. Lexa published his Dwemer Cube, Morg the visible Fingerrings and Teridan updated the Void Gear translation. And I did only the ground stuff like abots and Westlys.

Then I'm no fan of overhauls, I would act against my personal opinion. I wrote a HUGE guide with hundreds of mods, comparing screens, translated esp so the people may choose.

I think the same about my guide. It has the advantage of listing all the forbidden work like Westlys stuff This one also got some people in the boat. But for me alone it is too much work. And I will be alone - I know it. The people play skyrim.

But thanks for the offer :hugs:

If any of the translators need a forum of their very own to work from, we have open (free) real estate at Wolflore. All we ask is that one person who knows the native language of the subforum take a moderator position over it so things don't get out of hand.
