So which faction is considered to be the 'Bad Guy'?

Post » Wed Mar 19, 2014 6:29 pm

And yet mer provoked them by sneak attacking the nords who they had been trading and bartering with. Also, who knew it only took 500 companions to almost wipe out a race, where other elves took advantage and enslaved their cousins after poisoning them.

Mannimarco - dikeish necromancer - altmer
Hayden Cameron - dikeish leader who used Bosmer mercs/undead/daedra to invade high rock - Bosmer
Mancar Cameron - dikeish cult leader who caused the oblivion crisis - altmer
Tribunal - dikeish demigods who support slavery - dunmer
Bosmer - cannibals
aeylids - dikeish elves that tortured and sacrificed humans to daedra

The list goes on with maormer, the thalmor. Mer are generally dikes. Oddly, orcs are the only race not to be total dikes in history.

Edit: given the life span of humans vs mer there should be exponentially more evil humans, but most big named evil people are mer.

Good job, lets judge an entire race by one group(thalmor). Also, one thing you must remember is that THE ELVES DONT WANT TO WIPE EVERY HUMAN OUT!(at least not in ESO) they simply want to rule over the younger races of man who caused this trouble in the first place(too bad ebonheart is better).

EVERYONE Killed [censored], and pillaged everything in there path in our equivalent of this time period. just some were more good at it than others ;)

you fail to mention that tiber septim, a well worshipped man god, went on a tyrannical crusade where he invaded every province with an army and using a dwemer brass god and slaughtered everything in his path. the empire was built on the foundations of the bones of countless women and children.

This. Seriously.

Whatever faction you play the other factions are nercromancing(?), pesant tormenting, puppy kicking [censored]s.

Neither of them are the unambigious bad guy, there is no Elf Hitler.

The AD become the Thalmor later on so they're the evil ones. Plus Mannimarco is a high elf. The AD [censored] are obviously going to say that AD is good, which it's not.

United an empire to rule, didn't try to enslave or sacrifice to daedra. Uniting the continent is a bloody business, but at least he didn't resort to torture in the name of a daedra.

Yup. Don't forget about Pelinal, the bat-[censored] crazy elf killer. And Redguards, they blew up a continent after centuries of civil war. This is some serious business.

I went in with the idea that maybe all were bad. And in particular thought what you did about Aldmeri being holier than thou. Though I figured they or Daggerfall could be seen as most likely good or noble but again that was before playing. And I was guessing, seemed unlikley the way the game was being presented one alliance was going to be presented as more noble.

After going through the stater islands of each, I got little, as they tend to deal with outside forces, than other factions, barring Ebonheart Pact, which deals with Daggerfall Covenant, and that has to be said, is pretty brutal. Challenged my thoughts on them being the candidate for most noble. Although nothing so far has exonerated Nords warmongering history, and Dunmer xenophobia and slave trade.

What was the biggest challenge to my preconceptions was meeting the Aldmeri Queen Aryenn. Saying that I have not met the other leaders yet.

Yes, was unusual just for the fact they got allied with Bosmer who they been warring on off with, and even include in their religion. Likewise, with Argonian allying with their slavers the dunmer. It was really just picked for the fact the three are closest to each other, Maybe would have been better to plait the faction into 9 in theory. But the practice would maybe been harder..

Also worth noting again the dunmers slave trade and you meet a very obnoxious dunmer priestess, trying to force temple religion on an argonian village, early in Ebonheart Pact storyline.

There's no "bad" faction, though I suppose a lot of people coming here directly from Skyrim will say the AD is evil because "OMG THALMOR!!11!" rather than actually reading about the lore at the time.

Personally, I hate Nords, so for me EP are the evil ones.

This. I love the Tribunal because they make for great characters, but they creep me out with the whole, "We know what's best for everybody, and that's us ruling over all of you, and we'll kill whomever we want and rewrite history to ensure we can love and protect you like the precious children you are."

Someone doesnt know there lore

This is the FIRST AD. the one that was roflstomed by Tiber Septim and his walking dwemer golem of death was the second, and the one in Skyrim was the third, set up after the Thalmor saved the Summerset isles(Alinor) from the oblivion crisis, most likely while they didnt mention the whole slight genocide/ elf mans burden going on.

yeah. honestly im siding with elves on this, humans in this series are [censored] up and don't deserve to lead anything.

also god forbid the redguards learn how to split the atom again, otherwise they'll nuke tamriel too.

No, he just tortured an entire Altmeri city for a few minutes, which seemed like several years for the few survivors because he pretty much distorted time while doing it.

About the goblins, the Dunmer also have goblin slaves. They are not considered to be people by the people of Tamriel (I am not saying I agree with this vision. I don't), and therefore are not considered slaves.

I didn't exactly pay ultra close attention to the story, but as far as I know the queen was for equality for all.

There was an extremist group of High Elf purists against the Dominion alliance of the three races called the Veiled something...and they were influencing/corrupting that training camp with their ideals and dogma.

I think.

well, he did bring about a golden age in tamriel that lasted for many years until about the death of his son if I am correct, but yeah, if you dig more into his character some of his choices are a bit dikeish. But you do have to crack a few eggs to make an omelet, though maybe he cracked a few too many...

No faction is truly evil. The Ebonheart Pact mostly just wants to be left alone, so they're fighting to keep the other factions out of their lands. The Daggerfall Covenant want to institute a new empire in place of the one that has fallen, so they can unite Tamriel. The Aldmeri Dominion think that the younger races are causing too much chaos, so they're trying to rein them in to keep the world safe. Of course, these are partially idealized goals, and the actual members of the factions might have more malicious intent, but overall none of them are actively malevolent. Trying to peg one as being evil cheapens the values of the faction, anyways.

Early First Era. Does no one know about Pelinal Whitestrake and Alessia?

The Ayleids?

NEVER FORGET, never SURRENDER!

"The Ayleids made deals with with Daedra for more power, blessings, and other advantages. They employed entire armies of Daedra to conquer, subjugate, and enforce their rule. They eventually controlled the entirety of modern-day Cyrodiil, and kept the Nedic peoples there enslaved for generations. The Ayleids are also said to have enslaved beastfolk."

Just like being a good person does not make someone a good ruler, being a good ruler doesn't mean someone is a good person.

As opposed to the detestable heights of mannimarco and mankar Cameron had they succeeded, Tiber Septim was tame.

It's also worth noting that the brass god of destruction he used was created by elves.

Also, to answer the question of the thread, yeah, no faction is evil, though the people inside do some bad things. like the DC does some pretty bad stuff in Ebonheart storyline(necromancy, using prisoners, etc.)

Elf Nazis are as bad as it gets - aka Aldermi Dominion. The good guys are the Covenant - good, as in good at kicking all your butts. The Pact are just a bunch of dysfunctional rejects lol...

No damn elf is going to lead Humans or Orcs. Never.

What's evil about Daggerfall? I saw King Emeric and his wife they were harping about tolerance and respecting eachother.

Elves that were not part of the Dominion.

So... Yeah. The Dominion is not the evil faction. None is. There is no evil race or evil faction in this game. Actually, TES games love to play in the gray area.

This. Uniting an empire will ruffle some feathers, but the prosperity it brought was more good than any mer had achieved.
