So which faction is considered to be the 'Bad Guy'?

Post » Wed Mar 19, 2014 10:25 am

the only egg he cracked was his own. the guy was a bloodthirsty psychopath. I actually remembered an in-game book that detailed the real accounts of one of the invasions by him in his campaign as opposed to the ones they made up, that just described him sacking a city and slaughtering everyone in it.

and don't forget, history is written by the victors.

The Dwemer built it, they don't have phone calls and meetings were they talk about the weapons/ god they are building, the Altmer probably did not know about the Numidium until he was walking across the ocean to them(I always imagined that's how the Numidiumm got to Summerset isles, via walking across the ocean, I dont know why).

Oh I agree, no faction Is bad or good. I'm just saying, There are way more shady events from mer than humans, even some of the shady human events were caused by mer.

and its also worth noting that the brass god was not made for destruction, it was made to elevate the dwemer people to CHIM/god-hood/aetherius. a rather peaceful and noble goal.

its when the humans came along and found it that it was turned into a war machine, corrupted from its original purpose to do nothing but kill just like everything else TES humans touch.

I hate the Thalmor/Second Aldmeri Dominion, but the Aldmeri Dominion is what I believe to be the best faction in the game. They seek to bring peace and unity to Tamriel through wisdom, rather than bloodshed and genocide. They're still not as good as the Septim Empire, but they're close.

The Daggerfall Covenant is just focused on securing their trade routes.

No idea what the Ebonheart Pact is about.

Aldmeri Dominion: Want to restore Elven Rule in Tamriel. Elves believe themselves to be the supreme rulers and superior race among the other mortals.

Ebonheart Pact: Believe themselves to be the destined rulers of Tamriel.

Daggerfall Covenant: Events in Cyrodiil disrupted the region's main source of income; creating poverty and suffering. Want to restore trade routes and prosperity.

Take your pick.

TIber Septim, Pelinal Whitestrake, The Daedric invasion of molag Bal(which, I suppose one could argue was caused by the dark elven Morag Tong, although some suspect the Dark Brotherhood framed the Morag Tong), the Interregnum, and a lot of other events were caused by humans, and a lot of events of bloodshed caused by elves were against other elves(chimer v dwemer)

People automatically pegging the Aldmeri Dominion as being evil because of the Thalmor coming about a thousand years later are completely wrong. The current Dominion might look down on the other races, but they have a fairly benevolent goal.

However, people acting like elves are so much better than humans are also sort of wrong. The Falmer attempted to genocide the early Nords, and then were nearly genocided in retaliation. Elves then tried genociding each other with the Chimer and the Dwemer. And don't forget the Ayleids keeping the Colovians enslaved. Or how the Dunmer literally enslave anything they can get their hands on.

Point is, there's no 'good guy' or 'bad guy' as far as the sapient races go. They're all kind of [censored]s that have their moments of benevolence. That or they're like the Argonians, and want to be left alone to hug their trees.

Anyone else wonder why the factions are acting so late? Didn't the Empire fall in game about 150 years ago(well not fall but more get restricted to Cyrodiil by some accounts).

Yeah, those peaceful and noble dwemer who poisoned and enslaved refugees, fought in civil war, and warred against the Chimer.

This is why I don't get why Azura, punished all the entire race for what 3 individuals did. Not all worshipped them and followed them.

They are bad because they fought against the chimer?

It was to teach the race a lesson to not f with the gods.

I see that people stopped talking about factions and are now talking about races that are long gone and that are not part of any of them.

I ain't even mad. Just leave my Bosmer alone or she will eat your face.

one thing does not diminish the other.

I never said the dwemer were peaceful, they were [censored]s, with a capital C. but the numidium was not made for war. man just used it for war, as always.

I wad mentioning the war because of the notion of them being peaceful. They didn't have to have their arm twisted to fight the Chimer...

Azura did it because she's spiteful and condescending and wanted to punish the Tribunal by hurting what they loved.

So do we all agree that Tamriel is an exceedingly brutal place and every race has blood on their hands? ;)

I would agree. And before anyone says "but the bretons!" they are to busy fighting the town on that hill to worry about going to the hill past that one.

The AD is bad, they orchestrate the whole thing, they wait in the corner for the big finale... And in normal conditions and real facts, AD coops with EP

I will create DC as my main plot and experience... And am going to kill as many EP and AD as I can.

The Atmorans came in peace, with trade, and they were met with deceit and slaughter. The early alessians were enslaved and tortured for simply not being elves. The elves dug their own graves, and the presence of evil necromantic maniacal mer in every era since then doesn't really help the elven forgiveness.

Threads like that always amuse me, bunch of evil people trying to find 'evil faction' so they can feel superior themselves

At least not everyone here is like that.

BTW, Thalmor are in TESO too and they are portrayed much more believable than that nonsense in Skyrim.
