Which Faction Will You Join First?

The Imperial Legion. I will be disappointed if it didn't make the cut. Considering the state of the empire, it would be more than appropriate to have it incorporated into the game.

Hmm, I think you're right. The Imperial Legion makes sense to put in Skyrim. The Empire seems to be experiencing dissolution, and there is a brink of civil war. So, if the Empire is still around by then, then yes, the Legion should make it in as a playable faction. I think you should also have an option to become a rebellious general, taking charge of your own unit or army, if you so wish. Think of the fall of the Roman Empire, they fell because of rebellion and disunity. The same should be apt to happen to the Empire of the Elder Scrolls, right? At least make it possible to achieve, if not automatically happening as a part of the main quest.

Indeed. I believe these two factions would by far be the most compelling to play in Skyrim. It's a possibility they may just be part of the main quest, but who really knows. I just hope that I can quell the rebellion and put the separatists to shame as they deserve! Perhaps we could even relight the dragonfires, considering only Dragonborns are capable of such a feat. I'm not suggesting we should be the emperor or anything though. I have a feeling that would be a nightmare for TES lore, unless the next game were to be centuries later.

Being centuries later for the next game is hardly difficult. It is more convenient for game design, as then you don't have to make too many references to things that the previous protagonist may or may not have done.

One hypothesis is that Dovahkiin of unknown gender can become Emperor, have a son, and the wife the son takes would determine the race of the family line from there. This means the history would allow the Dovahkiin to be of any race and gender while still able to have future descendants showing up somewhere.

I'll play a warrior first so Fighter's Guild (+Main quest). I'll leave Thieves', Assassins', and Mages' guilds for my next characters.

must keep up with tradition that lasted for 3 TES games
1. Fighters guild (ok, in Daggerfall it was Knights guild, but since Knights guild is merged now with Fighters guild...)

In Daggerfall there were both Fighters Guild and various Knights Orders. Completely different things. In Morrowind there was Fighters Guild and Imperial Legion, which is somewhat close to Knight Order, but not the same thing. And in Oblivion there was only bland Fighters Guild.

Wherever there is an Imperialist, there I'll be... killing them.

So one of the Nord clans.

I'm rolling a thief first, so most probably the thieves, but if there are still the fighters I'll join them soon as well because they are the most boring and I want to keep the best quest lines for later.

Dark Brotherhood first, damn awesome guild in Oblivion, especially the Bruma Quest with the 'accident' :D
Then Thieves guild, primary to get the possibility of paying my fines without loosing anything I carry with me but cause of the quests, too, I'm freakin excited about how I can combine the Slow-Time-Shout with beeing a thief ^^

And maybe I will meet a new guild, there might be a Dragon-Hunters-Guild or a Safe the Whales Dragons-Guild

Probably whatever faction is the darker shade of gray as I find them to usually be more interesting than white or light shades of gray.
Soooo... Dark Brotherhood? Or will it be pitch black?

I usually try them all but with different characters for each one to maximize the diversity of the experience. Definitely trying out thieves guild first. after that I will steal every peice of silverware in skyrim just like I did in oblivion mwahahahah

Well, assuming there's a Necromancer's faction I'll join that first, but if not I'll join one of the new Mages guilds

First: The Mages guild split right after the Oblivion crisis, and with how arrogant and proud your average mage is, 200 years is nowhere near enough time for them to kiss and make up. They split into the Synod and the College of Whispers.

Second: Thieves Guild (or it's equivalent), always had, always will.
