Which Faction Will You Join First?

Post » Tue Apr 13, 2010 2:01 am

Simple Question here; Just wondering which guild you will join first when playing Skyrim? I do remember Todd stating that there will be new guilds present in Skyrim, with the old ones returning as well (Dark Brotherhood being confirmed.) So I imagine that The Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, and Thieves Guild will return, and may or may not have different names.

As for me, I plan on joining the Dark Brotherhood first; They had some of the best/memorable quests in Oblivion, and I can't wait to see how much they've improved in Skyrim :celebration:

Thoughts/Opinions? Discuss! :turtle:

EDIT: Uhh Okay...My Poll seems to have disappeared....That's great. My questions remains the same though, so just comment below I guess...

I'd have to play the game first, to find out what guilds are actually in it.

Fighters and mages guild are imperial institutions, after Oblivion they were disbanded, Mages became Synod and Whispers, any other guild Beyond DB we don't know whats in or not.

Like I said, they'll probably have different names, but the whole idea/theme remains the same.

After doing alot of exploring, i will start progressing in the main quest. Traditionally in elder scrolls games i liked to do factions after the main quest, but the first guild i will most likely join is a new faction that i haven't tried. Hoping there will be a hunters guild, if there is one, that's going to be my first, after that it will most likely be the thieves guild.

In your poll, you make a separate reference separately to the new guilds, right?

IMO the College of Whispers, Synod and possibly a new Necromancer faction are all quite different from and much more interesting than Oblivion's generic "Mage's Guild," which no longer exists and will not be an option for anyone in Skyrim

WIth respect to the "Mages Guild." I have heard of The College of Whispers and the Synod. I will probably join one of those, when I know more of what they are about.

When I played Oblivion I used a guide. This time I think I'll play blind. As such, I don't know which faction I'll join first. My initial plans are to play as some kind of stealth/mage hybrid, so I may be inclined to join a thief or magician type of guild but it really depends on the values of the organization too. I liked the Robin Hood-esque thieves' guild in Oblivion. I'd join a more goodly magician guild. I'd steer away from more sinister guilds or organizations.

I plan to be very loyal to the Empire unless its values have corroded. The Empire removed slavery from the backwards Morrowind society, so that's a big plus for me. If it's similarly virtuous I will definitely stick by it. If it's corrupt I will support the rebels. If the decision isn't that clear cut I don't know and may remain neutral, and if I have to choose it will be hard if both sides are sympathetic. Final Fantasy X-2 as wacky as it is has a situation like that, where you have to choose sides and both sides present sympathetic situations.

I like joining the Fighters' Guild early on so that I have a place to stay and keep my equipment.

I'll be joining the Dark Brotherhood and either the Synod or College of Whispers depending on which holds my interest. My "main" character that I've carried over from every main TES game so far is an Assassin/Lore Master. So, those guilds fit him quite well.

I've always just role-played it off that one of my other characters was the main hero even though I still did the main quest with him so those events happen.

or is it a stave...

Synod.

First thing I always did everywhere since Daggerfall was joining Mages Guild. This is the closest one, and College of Whispers is for another character.
